If I see ONE MORE PERSON f**king swanning around in a RAMONES T-SHIRT who has BLATANTLY never heard of the Ramones, music or anything else, I WILL GO INSANE!
WTF is it all about? Today I had the pleasure of sitting on a bus next to a man who looked like Gazza in his pie-munching heyday... if he had ever owned any record other than "Ministry Of Sound Ibiza Anthems" OR WHAT-f**king-EVER then I would be shocked, surprised and (possibly) humbled.
But he hadn't. It was a "fashion statement".
And what statement are you trying to make, precisely, sir? That you're a pillock?
Honestly. You know it's true. The Ramones never had THAT many fans. And I must say I'm not big on them either - I mean I don't dislike them, but... that's not the point.
AC/DC's another one. And Iron Maiden. f**k OFF! We can all see you really listen to Natasha Bedingfield, who are you trying to kid?
... better out than in....
I swear to God...
Here have a T-shirt!
You shoulda gone up to him and shouted "Gabba gabba, we accept you, we accept you, one of us!". If he joins in then he's genuineboudicca wrote:If I see ONE MORE PERSON f**king swanning around in a RAMONES T-SHIRT who has BLATANTLY never heard of the Ramones, music or anything else, I WILL GO INSANE!

One of my friends girlfriends had one of those Motorhead t-shirts you could get from Topshop and she was quite blatantly not a Motorhead fan. Lemmy what were you thinking of letting Topshop do that?!
I have also noticed Led Zepplin t-shirts in H&M too. I am waiting for the Impaled Nazarene t-shirts to be completely honest....

or Marduk's "f**k me Jesus"
Now, you see, I knew many more early fans of all those bands than of a certain Manchester band we've been discussing recently.boudicca wrote:The Ramones never had THAT many fans... AC/DC's another one. And Iron Maiden.
And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

Er, money?Brideoffrankenstein wrote:Lemmy what were you thinking of letting Topshop do that?!
...Best/worst was the clothes horse that is Sienna Miller(?) the other month in a Vision Thing T-shirt at some premier. I kid you not.
Second Prize goes to a teenager in a magazine my girlfriend got who was wearing another "ironic" 80's T-shirt - God's Own Medicine! I've been after one myself for 16 years and couldn't believe some naive spotty chav (who wasn't even born when GOM was released, nevermind ever heard of The Mish) was wearing it.
Will Javine be sporting a Fields Of The Nephilim T-shirt at Eurovision tomorrow..?
(Should I take this rant to the Grumpier Old Men forum..?)

If someone is daft enough to believe that buying a piece of clothing with some dodgy band on it will enable them to look cool and desirable, well, let them. Some of us just wear these things 'cos we:
a) want to shag a member of the band;
b) can't think of anything else to wear;
c) can't find anything else to wear.
Anyway, it just makes them easier to spot. And pin the "darwin was right" sign on their back after they've gone past

"Ooh, I don't know any heavy metal bands, but the Darkness went to No. 1 just recently and I hear guitars and stuff are all the rage, so..."
