The Heartland Effect

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I never talk during music, at least during good music. If one hears bad music, it is one's duty to drown it in conversation.

You can't imagine how pleased I am that someone else is doing our Southend coverage this weekend.

The prospect of watching two games where teams who weren't quite good enough over the previous nine months try to claim an undeserved reward for their mediocrity would drive me to utter distraction.

But I shall be keeping an eye on Lincoln's progress, without going anywhere near Planet of Sound (!?)

Is the coverage the result of an attempt in the media to develop another moral panic?

Mods and rockers, punk, new age travellers, ravers, new age travellers and ravers getting together and having parties, single mothers, illegal immigrants, youths in hooded tops... All have threatened the very fabric of our society at one time or other.

Original goth never generated all that much disgust in the media.

NME being nasty about Skeletal Family never really counted.

I never felt their output of surly, workmanlike trad-goth ever suffered as a result, though.

Oh, yes, Nods corner: I was reminded of that while watching the 'revelations' etc... DVD the other night. Kind of makes it harder to maintain the suspension of disbelief required for pleasurable Neph-watching. Or adds to the pleasure. There are two ways to enjoy the Nephilim.

Wot? Does that mean you agree with my analysis then? :?:

Just an in-joke sorta thang with Debaser and I. We both know the owner of the shop, and I spend hours at weekends hanging out there just talking about random bands. I'm usually one his only customers on Saturdays out of about.. 5? 6? He does most of his trading on eBay, you see..

(Just a plug here, he's got WYDSM 12" for sale on eBay, his name's "subtoy" on there)

Ahhhh 'subtoy'...a nod to his old band.

I may saunter over to see Vince at some point in the next week (YAAAAAAY fer holidays) as I need to get a drum skin and drum sticks framed and it's sort of nearby.

Yep, the Suburban Toys. Didn't mention I saw the Subhumans the other day, and The Eccentrics (his current band) were supporting.
