Sisters mentioned in the Independent, in Cure article

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Mark, don't say that.. it has Ghost Rider on it! Admittedly a cover, but when have we ever complained about Ghost Rider in the past? ;)

I take it that you've all heard that old chesnut about Under the gun being pulled from the soundtrack after Brandon Lee bit the bullet (literally).

Also in a wierd bout of synchranisity (sp) The Crow 2 was directed by a certain Tim Pope - is this the same man that directed alot of Cure videos?

*catching up at a fast dawdle*

pornography (let down a tad by the production IMO) comes a very close no.2 to seventeen seconds.

wow. i've always said exactly the same thing 8) :notworthy:

however, the new "remastered" version of pornography seems a lot crisper, sharper, and better overall.

still not 17 seconds though is it? a perfect album. :von: :notworthy: :notworthy:

The new Cure remastereds are excellent--they put the oomph into everything and it blows away the old, flatter-sounding discs.

Seventeen Seconds probably is a perfect album. Clocks in under 40 minutes, perfect vinyl time, a thing of the past.

Pornography's been improved, though--no more of the muddiness, sounds much cleaner now.

How about some Sisters remastereds on the new 5,000 bit technology or whatever they're doing these days? Once you start playing older AAD discs and then the new ones you discover new joys, especially when one of your fave bands abandoned the recording part of their jobs in order to play obscure Czech festivals...

I've never been able to listen to a full album by them. Yet mysteriously, I find their earliest of a-sides and the few b-sides that made it to Staring At The Sea to be rather good. :von:

I've always thought FALAA is badly let down by the production, it sounds like parts of it were recorded with the Doktor in a cardboard box somewhere with SKOS being a key offender...

I agree--that whole album really needs some oomph all around, especially in the bass and the Doktor. The single versions on Slight Case sound better, more powerful.

All of 'em, I think Floodland would sound even better in a new remastered form.

My FALAA remaster CD is busted. Quite badly. I can rip Black Planet and No Time To Cry, I think, but if I try Walk Away or any of the others, it crashes.

So I bought it on vinyl. And it skips halfway through SKOS.

again i seem to be behind the times.i've only just got FALAA on cd and did wonder at the seemingly vast difference between some tracks and the much worn copy(s) i have on vinyl. however there is no mention of it being remastered...is it just a format thing?should it state categorically that it is a remaster?
