Will this help?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

An interviewer with Jon Klein of Specimen, who was behind London's Batcave club, queried why the Sisters never played there, when every other act did. Klein didn't know. "Perhaps their paths never crossed". Surely Sisters fans were always a little more crusty than the decorative/fetish goth types around, then/now?

Here's a link that'll answer evey other question you've ever had: http://www.elric.com/goth/bluff.html

John went on to do feet first and indeed put us on at one rather memorable night. As walt once said. "It's a small world after all".

That bloody Bluffers Guide...

Was reprinted in the NME Goth Special of a few months back. Called AE 'String Bean Supremo' which must be the politest thing written about him by the NME, or indeed England's music press.

Yes, I remember buying that for Hallucienate . The embarrasment was almost akin to when you were a kid and went into your local news agent and over to the 'top shelf' and ...

Am I the only person who wasn't mortally offended by it? I thought it was a great collection of interviews and news, a snapshot from the glory days...

It was ok in places TS, reminded me more of the dodgy reportage that we had to put up with then...

Oh yes, there were all these guys stanging round reading Top Gear Magazine (maybe with Loaded inside, far be it from me to comment :innocent: ) that I had to squeeze past to pick it up. I was bedecked in jangly things and leather that day so it was fairly embarrassing, I sort of winced apologetically at them.

@TIMOTHY, I actually agree with you, it was really good. As long as you ignored the s**t journalism and looked at the pretty pictures of Messrs Astbury and Eldritch. Not that you would of course... :innocent:

Surely you'd have felt like a right c**t with just the one? It is the NME :innocent:

You'd have felt like even more of a tit if you'd been stood at the till WITH pikkrong and vicus, all three of you clutching copies of that SHAMEFUL rag.

 Has none of you utterly embarrassed people thought of mail order?

Cause, that's what I did, bought it, and proudly own it now (not letting anybody touch it).

Given that I couldn't read the bits in those days (wrong country) I found it rather interesting and even had a good laugh when seeing how bitchy they went on about Bauhaus (one of my heroes in those days) and some other bands...

And I'll further admit that it was this Gothic Issue that brought Joy Division back to my turntable (yes, I still own one of those, and it's the same I had then), and made me buy all JD material I hadn't previously owned...

;D :von:

I bought it and read it all day at school.

Was rather angered by their constant choice of journalism that involved taking digs at Bauhaus, but enjoyed the Sisters stuff.

Paul bought my copy - just walked in in his bikers leathers and "what the f**k" attitude and paid for it as if nothing unusual was happening

(that attitude isn't put on - its been groomed over the 19 years he's had to walk into bars with me    )
I never talk during music, at least during good music. If one hears bad music, it is one's duty to drown it in conversation.
