Death Music

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Music to be buried or up the chimney too. I've often wondered what my funurel would be like, as in what music they'll play as I go up the chimney, always thought Death in the family by TON would be very sombre  my uncle went up the chimney to the Jungle Book tune

Floodfland would be funky as well.

what you lot gonna have? or is this a depressing post on such a lovely sunny day

Up the chimney - heh heh

At the moment I'd like 4th of July and Indian Summer Sky by U2.

To start things off: Beethoven's 7th Symphony. The second movement.

As the box slips through the curtain: Cabaret, sung by Judi Dench.

I've already got this one sorted:
as the coffin sinks - Engame, The Micharl Nyman Band from Drowning by Numbers
then, just as everyone is leaving - Wake Up Dead by Megadeth blasts out over the sound system Image

I make my own funeral music :von:

'Up the chimney' makes the song 'Dawn Over Dachau' not very appropriate tho

Otherwise, I always thought 'The Coolin', a traditional Irish song on Uilleann Pipes very bone-chilling and moving. That or 'Koyaanisquatsi' by Philip Glass.

The rest of the funeral will be colored by music like Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Strapping Young Lad, and the new System of a Down.

To confuse all the Goffs and Metalheads, of course

always preferred the galaxy song myself ;)
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide.
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go 'round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth.

I would like Dead Can Dance "The host of Seraphim" - should bring a tear to everyone's eyes!

One of my close friends father died recently and he had requested Motorhead's "Killed by death" - not bad for a 70 year old :notworthy: (plus we got to dance to it at the wake afterwards)

A goth wrote:Call it superstition

Under the falling

Singing
Bury me
Bury me
Spoken in tongues
Of many colours
In the colours of heaven, In the colours of hell
In the cannot, would not tell
In the broken temple bells, in the ringing
Oh, Marian, I can
Hear those voices singing
Bury me
Inside
Lie beside and
Bury me
Deep
In the spoken in tongues
Cover me over
Unsung
Unsaid, not
Borrowed, broken and torn,
On the bed tomorrow, mourning
Before you sleep
Bury me deep
Bury me
Inside
Lie beside and
Bury me, bury me, bury me, bury me
Deep
Call it superstition
Followed and fell
Under the falling
Under the spell
Bury me

Lie beside and
Bury me
Deep
How could you forget?

I think "A. Goth" might not want to license his work for funerals, for fear that it would make him look like the Prince of Darkness ;)

Tis a good choice admittedly, but I'd hate to have my copy of it played...all crackly and ripped-from-poor-vinyl :(
