Underneath The Rock?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Straight from the horse's mouth:
'Underneath The Rock' was a print magazine published by The Reptile House,
an entertaining and uniquely clear look into the workings of the Sisters and
the broad phenomenon of popular music. Fabulous.
However, like the rest of this fabulous site, it may tell you more than
you wanted to know. When this section is finished, you will be able to
navigate from here to some edited highlights.

They sure were nice about Palazograssi Records. From what I've heard, from someone who knew them, they were two guys in Leeds, one named Dave (I think).
But their releases weren't really that limited.

Either way, their bootlegs were worth it. S'why I'm looking out for any on eBay.

taylor and dan both have their ideas and suspicions and theories about palazograssi... one of which is that it was a front for eldritch releasing boots of his own band (presumably to make them look popular and build up a grass roots fanbase and an "underground" image) :o

Also a nice little source of income independent of any record company "cross-collateralisation".

Helps explain the lack of official live material--a video, and a few b-sides. Wowza. 'Course, Eldo has said that Wake was the only show worth listening to, meaning he thought the gigs were crap and people shouldn't listen to them...yet he fronted a highly bootlegged band...

...I would hope a guy bootlegging his own band would at least do a good job on it. Those are quality boots. That cynic.
