Any help file sharers?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

i wouldnt dare from work, as thats a breach of IT policy and as such grounds for instant dismissal, even if i could get around the firewall.

at home? i'm just discovering the joys of bit torrents, so m$ office 2003, lego star wars and halo have all been sucked down the hoover over the last day or so. i've also got a dvd rip of "the name of the rose" in the pipe.

and surely its a case for the copyright holders to pursue any perceived infringement?

thus Mr. Ray is in the clear as its his work. apart from the stuff thats on MR which von may still hold copyright for.

its all a crock of nonsense and paranoia anyway.

Lightweight it may be, but every time they have a round of prosecutions my filesharing dips for a week or two.

My luck is that I'd be one of the "chosen few" :(

(And I haven't got the hang of bit-torrent yet...)

I use Bittornado for Linux, run it from the command prompt so I can control my downloads at work from home using SSH.

I'm not into anime but I download a hell of a lot of Japanese music through bittorrent or uploader sites (on average 1gb a day!) :eek: :P

Try changing the 'update gui every x seconds' from the default .125 seconds to 2 seconds. That usually helps, but yeah, it does slow things down a tad. I only use azureus then I only wanna download a selected part of a torrent.

It's not really the application itself that's the issue, it's more the fact that I have to have a bloody huge JVM sitting in the memory of my puny little 667mhz box. Give me a C-based client over a Java one any day ;)

That said, I use a Python one, so I'm half way in between.
