other favorite artists????

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

james? cool! what album(s) did you discover them by?

check out "strip mine" and "laid" - two very different albums from opposite ends of their career, but both are very very cool - "laid" is quite chilled, and "strip mine" is very mid 80s indiepop, but rather smashing with it...

Actually James have always been kind of a "cult" band here in Portugal, meaning, they've always been very popular. Much more than the Sisters that's for sure. And just because of this thread i'm going to listen to Laid and Sit Down :von:

What bands have people met/hung out with?

Don't know what's up with my memory... I should write down this funny story right as this thread started. But it came into my mind several weeks ago and I forgot it again before reaching to the forum. Well, maybe it's funny only for those who were participants...
OK, here we go - the story

"How My Friend Met Martin Gore Near The Toilet".

It happened in summer 2001 on the day before Depeche Mode's gig in Tallinn. We - I, a friend of mine and our wives had watched the film "Metropolis" in an open air and we were cold and wet because of the rain. So we went to the Depeche Mode Bar for a little drink to get warm. But there were more people than usually and no place to sit down. We get our drinks and stood in a narrow passage, almost in front of the WC. Then we saw the reason of the crowd - Martin Gore was sitting there, surrounded by fans. Soon he stood up, moved towards us and stayed there before us. We didn't understand, why. Then a discussion between him and my friend started. Gore considered us fans of DM who stood in the order behind of the toilet's door but let their idol enter before them. He said we didn't need to let him before. Then my friend said that we just stood there because there were no place to sit down and he could enter the door. Finally Gore understood and went to the place he had wanted to go. Later came also Fletcher and shook my friend by the hand in passing by. (As I said we stood in a narrow passage.) Gahan didn't come. That's all. We got our drinks and went home. The live next day was cool.
By the way, pictures about Gore and Fletch in DM-Bar:

What bands..in no particular order save the first one...depends on my state of mind..

The Sisters of Mercy- Always,
The Fields of the Nephilim- those homepride moments,
The Cult- pure "love",
Rammstein- teutonic meltdown,
Marilyn Manson-American irony,
The Stranglers- punk never died, merely dozed off for a bit,
Alec Empire- strange but cool,
Alice Cooper- classic arsekicking,
Iggy Pop- for the lengendary drug consumption and the music,
Bowie- couldn't leave him out,
Japan/ David Sylvian- for those "enlightened "moments.
old Marillion-for groping at sixth form parties, oohh!

Embarrasing confessions- I still really like Adam Ant and Duran Duran. Everyone hated them in the 80's but just look what we got now....Steps...Sclub f*****g 7.

But don't worry my 6 year old and his 3 year old brother get a daily dose of vitamin Eldritch, in a few years or so things might get better musically. If you have kids start the brainwashing early ..it's music's only salvation!

Bands I've hung out with...said hi to the M****n in Wales in 1987, not at a gig at a riding stables.

First record... Don't stand so close to me by The Police around 1978 i think sitll got it somwhere!
