Sheringham!? About 5 miles left of Cromer! Don't you work in Cromer? It's a grim place.

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

a mate of mine at work who regularly commutes across london and up to leeds, and back again, sent me some thoughts and suggestions, and some timings and alternate routes, last week.
i'll post them here, if its still applicable?

What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
Sounds good because in my excitement to get the worlds greatest living Estonian poet here, I forgot that Leeds-Stansted-Gatwick-Peterborough is probably gonna be a good eight hours driving on a hangover.Quiff Boy wrote:a mate of mine at work who regularly commutes across london and up to leeds, and back again, sent me some thoughts and suggestions, and some timings and alternate routes, last week.

I'm sure we can get him to Leeds station though.
I'll sort the Germans to Stansted and home which is only 4 hours driving on a hangover.
Good man.

right, here's that email from my mate:
Hopefully the trains and stations will be running back to normal then. If so, then the options are:
Leeds to Kings X:
----------------
Take roughly 2.5 hours and run every 30 mins - see
http://www.gner.co.uk/GNER/Traintimes/C ... outh_1.htm
Kings X to Gatwick:
------------------
1) Thameslink runs a service from Kings X to Gatwick, takes about 50 mins
and runs approx every 30 mins (every 15 mins at peak times) - see
http://www.thameslink.co.uk
I've never done it before though so don't know how reliable etc
Or
2) The Victoria line underground from Kings X to Victoria, takes maybe about
10 mins and runs every few mins - see
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/pdfdocs/colourmap.pdf
Then the Gatwick Express from Victoria to Gatwick Airport, takes about 30
mins and runs ever 15 mins - see http://www.gatwickexpress.com/
Overall journey time for option 1 is (roughly):
- 0h30 wait for train at Leeds
- 2h30 train from Leeds to Kings X
- 0h30 wait for thameslink at Kings X
- 0h50 thameslink to Gatwick
------
4h20
Overall journey time for option 2 is (roughly):
- 0h30 wait for train at Leeds
- 2h30 train from Leeds to Kings X
- 0h10 wait for Victoria line at Kings X
- 0h10 Victoria line from Victoria to Kings X
- 0h15 wait for Gatwick Express at Victoria
- 0h30 Gatwick Express to Gatwick Airport
------
4h05
Worth leaving an extra 1 or 2 hours for travel delays, check-in at the
airport etc - but it should be quite easy to be in Leeds in the morning,
maybe leave around 10 or 11 and be at Gatwick for 4pm.
hope thats of some use, if you find you need it
