Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

I will await Quiffy's tweaking with the Search thingy, but in the meantime, me too had the odd critical error and the slowness of the board...
Don't know if it has something to do with it, but last time you pruned the search database I experienced the same slowness...

It seems to have got over the slowness (mostly) now.

i guess that what i clear the search "keywords" table out, every post after that starts to re-populate it.
thus every post has an additional overhead of adding each word in the post into the db.
in theory this means that the more data there is in the keywords table, the faster the site runs because the phpbb software has less db work to do
or something

That makes sense.
Can you tell it not to bother putting words like "a", "and", "the", "an", "if", "of", etc. in the db? Useful words for us understanding each other, but no-one's going to be searching for them...

i think it has filters on basic words, and words shorter than 3 characters to avoid exactly that scenario.markfiend wrote:That makes sense.

even connecting to the db admin site gave an error
definitely looks like its a db thing and not a phpbb forum thing.
