Guitar Tablatures

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Just to put this out there...

I am thinking about putting together guitar tabs of the unrecorded Sisters songs (Come Together, Summer, (We Are The Same) Susanne, Will I Dream, Crash & Burn, Top Nite Out, Romeo Down, Slept, War On Drugs).

Not as an act of hubris, but I would declare my transcriptions are extremely accurate and complete. Yes, there are certainly a lot of bad tabs out there already that have shown a genuine lack of competence.

But is this something that enough Heartlanders would make use of?

And this is by no means an attempt to put together some competent musicians to beat Andrew to the release of his own album. :innocent:

Do it. Do it now

As a guitar-playing Sisters fan with a less than musical ear I would be most appreciative of such an aid :notworthy:

Sounds like a decent enough idea. If time, energy, and perseverance gets the better of me, I may use a program such as PowerTab.

Will keep you posted on the progress. I will start with Come Together, Summer, and Crash & Burn.

I'll start with Romeo Down.

Let bass show off, then any time you like to show off with him, wait until he does that fiddly thingy in G.

Then play Am - Am - Am - F (G).

Repeat until singer almost topples over, then nod at bassplayer.

Next time the fiddly G comes by, play an open E six times.

End with an open Dm chord and singer screaming in agony.

Tadaa!

I have some or all of Romeo, Susanne, Come Together, Crash and Burn, Will I Dream?, and Summer, transcribed by my guitar teacher  , if you wanna compare notes or something...no promises on accuracy though.

I'd definitely use yours though!

Certainly like to see other interpretations.

I am always amazed though at how vocal/keyboard/cowbell lines get transcribed as being a part of the guitar arrangement.

The fact that we have the tunes in raw form through a variety of bootlegs that seperate the guitars and playback material makes it quite easy to figure out guitar lines.

I will spare you from the bad examples... you know who you are.

No Sisters song is a prototypical lesson in ability or difficulty.
But I have found the simplicity is what makes most people (and pasty faced cover bands) play the songs inaccurately.

Come Together, albeit an easy tune, played with out the appropriate nuance, sounds like crap. (I am referring to the main guitar hook, and the final guitar line at the end of the chorus.)

:von: : "There's a lot to be said for one note played with attitude and judicious use of distortion. Doesn't take long before it becomes quite listenable, in a troublesome kind of way [...] it's largely the way you hit a guitar that dictates the quality of the noise."

Sisters guitar in a nutshell. Punk guitar in a nutshell. Life in a nutshell?
