Great gigs you've been to

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

but not the obvious ones from members of a Sisters Of Mercy forum, OK?

Me - Terence Trent D'Arby at Brixton in about 1997. Absolutely brilliant, he was at his height and I was the only goth in the village

Robbie Williams concert last summer.
Honestly. And I'm not at all into him, his music or what he represents. :!:
I was back then assistant to the german press manager of RW. , so I was standing next to the Scorpions and chancellor Schröders wife & kids in the super-VIP-row right in front of the stage. Actually I was standing with the back to the stage as I was so amazed by the 70.000 secretaries screaming his songs with one voice. All that love & longing towards the stage. Quite impressing. (I still walked off after three songs. *shrug*.)

P.S. Pretty far away from a predictable sister-fan-concert, huh?

The Damned. Unbelievable. My first proper, punk/goth filled, gig.

Ask me again after Motörhead play in November though.

Half Man Half Biscuit - Liverpool Planet X 1990

Waited 5 years for this band to re-form then they played a blinding set to a sell out crowd. Now seen them about 30 times...Birkenheads finest.

or

Rosetta Stone - Hare & Hounds Brighton 1991

Final date of the tour finds Rosetta playing above a small pub in Brighton. A complete sell-out with loads of mainland goths in attendance. The gig the night before at Runcorn was great as well.

Hmmm....

I think the coolest thing I have ever seen is Daan acoustic at De Nachten this year... You don't know him anyway

Err, and this completely disturbed gig of Mauro Pawloski in a recordstore (Bilbo), think last year or the year before (not that you know him)... He and his guitarist came up with an empty bread sack over the head with the eyes cut out, and just did a bit of crazy stuff with their guitars, highly interesting
And another gig of him (with the Grooms) on Boomtown festival in Ghent...

Can't think of anything you would know though

Man or Astroman? in Cologne a few years ago. Not only that they played their whole set in space suits :notworthy: , they showed a self-made movie before the gig: The whole Star Wars saga (no "episode"-rubbish) impersonated with playmobil figures. :von:

I saw them a few years back at The Garage, rather good they were too.

Favourite recent gig was Arcade Fire at Reading last week. Great gig, great atmosphere.

Favourite gig was watching my mates band play the Marquee in 1996 supporting Die Laughing and 13 Candles, unfortunately they split up soon after that. But if certain members let bygones be bygones they are going to reform for a couple of gigs soon.

Best gig has to be Orbital at Glastonbury 94. Absolutely astounding.

last year the: 15 years of de heideroosjes selebration gig @ AB in Brussels.
Aroma di amore @ de muziekodroom in Hasselt.
clawfinger @ sint lievens houtem

those are the first to pop into my mind but I have seen so many good gigs and most of them by small lokal bands.

Troissoeur and the Millenniums at the private Virgo festival in my backyard were awesome.

Also the Cold Meat festival with Raison d'Etre and Shinjuku Thief were absolutely great.

As for the oldies: first Cradle of Filth concert in 1993, Tiamat with the 'deeper kind of slumber' tour and Tool in 1993 at Pukkelpop Belgium.

Ah, the man with the worst tattoo in the world :notworthy: :notworthy:

was actually 1989  had to leave NMA halfway through their set. so many people tried to get in the tent that they had to close the outer barriers, the official tape of the gig states 4000 in a 2000 capacity tent.

still remember all the people moshing to the damned before he came on dressed as father christmas :D

other favs

motorhead @ the lido 1984 coz i was too youny, they were too loud and everybody at school was too excited

and mansun on a secret warmup gig because they didn't know what to expect or how to deal with it when it arrived. stonker :notworthy:
