Wasps, where are they?

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Ye gods! Daddy-long-legs freak me out. Their legs are way too long. I can feel my skin prickle just thinking about them. :urff:

Now I bet some cnut will post a picture of one and I'll be sick.

I know I said they weren't so bad but I'm going off them rapidly, I had one buzzing round my head all last night. Horrible creature. Heading for the list at this rate.

   This could get interesting. The one I'm talking about is an extremely harmless fly, more formally known as a cranefly. I'd post a pic but markfiend would get frightened.

Recent studies suggest, that there'a a strong connection between animal torturing and deviant sexual sadism. In fact, 70% of all sexual offenders are animal torturers as well. On the other hand, animal torturers have a 5-times higher risk of eventually committing an act of violence.

We know the path you'll follow Obviousman. :von:

 I actually did that just the other night because one was in my room and I hadn't the heart to kill it. After spending about half an hour trying to usher it out with the sleeve booklet of Siouxsie and the Banshees' "Peepshow", I thought the poor little bastard might have himself a coronary from the stress of being chased around by a lady-giant, so I picked him up and popped him out on the landing.

I'm just a big softie.

It's also known in the West of Scotland as a jenny long legs, but the term's interchangeable with daddy long legs. Am I the only one here that actually likes them? I even freed one from a spider's web once. I like the way they dance and they make a great noise. And they really don't deserve having their legs pulled off. :( As for amputating spiders' legs one by one, Roy Batey did exactly that in Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? to test if spiders needed as many as 8 legs. Put me off Replicants a bit that did!

A wasp ruined an otherwise magnificent sesh at the pub, midway through my Endeavour Ale and Chicken Tikka. We weren't able to mount a reasonable defence - Ellie and Rich just sat there, Laura and Lauren ran like cowards, and I'd lost most of my hand-to-eye co-ordination and smacked everything but the buzzing b@stard.

I'm done with this summer thing now. :von:
