Hmm, 27 here. Under the 'threshold' of 32 it refers to, but still significantly higher than the average 16.4.
Oh, and I wonder if "Psychologist Simon Baron-Cohen" is related to Sacha Baron-Cohen?

Was fashion the reason why they were there?
They disguise it, hypnotize it
Television made you buy it

Unless of course you happen to know someone who's life is totally dominated by an OCD, he can not function properly in society, can not hold down a job, can't deal with life's complexities. His daily life is so controlled by his OCD's that he simply lives to be ruled by them. He is trapped in his world by them.....so therefore I don't find OCD's funny.paint it black wrote:i have a friend, his 16 year old boy still has to wear a nappy, therefore i don't find it funny.
obsessive compulsive behaviour which is more likely, might be construed as slightly amusing in the right context
anyway...moving on
It's all relative PiB.We all have weak spots or particular 'no-no's' when it comes to life and its complexities.
I'm sure there was no malice aforethought.
Five cups of coffee just to be myself...when I'd rather be somebody else
My older brother has OCD was diagnosed about 15 years ago. Was a living hell at first. His wife left him, the army discharged him, he had to live with my parents, after my parents died he now lives with my oldest brother but he will never be able to be on his own, he is now working though finally found the mixture of meds that work for him. Drives everyone insane. My oldest sis avoids holidays becuz she doesn't want to be around him. He often calls me, asking if he is ok and I have to remind him that he is having irrational thoughts. I have his 10 year old son 6 days a week. His is not only germ phobia but a religious one where he cannot stop praying and thinks he has constantly sinned. When he first moved out, my mother and I found his bedroom walls where covered in little crosses and inch apart. There was a time when he couldn't dress himself or open doors. The rituals he had to preform had taken over his life. He is better now he can drive and work as a security guard.Debaser wrote:Unless of course you happen to know someone who's life is totally dominated by an OCD, he can not function properly in society, can not hold down a job, can't deal with life's complexities. Weird. On another forum I'm on, someone posted something suggesting a link between OCD and religious maniacyn wrote:a religious one where he cannot stop praying
The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

I can totally relate to that.
My 13 yr old had a discussion first day of school regarding the movie The Possesion of Emily Rose. She like I does not believe in demonic possesion. I believe it is a mental illness. There was a time when ever my brother saw me he would start his ritual praying. No I am not that scarey looking!
