NEC 92

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Driving into work this morning listening to a bootleg of the above got me wondering - can anyone else remember the lights on the walls during the encores? At the end? What were they again - dolphins?

They projected multicoloured fish all over the walls
at the sides of the stage and on the roof but none
of my friends notcied. Also there was a deafening
roar of helicopters taken from Apocalypse Now too.
Proboblly one the finest Sisters gigs I've been too.

I'll say. Remember the green strobes behind Von during Mother Russia? Awesome.

Not to mention the blue lights skittering across the arena as Mother Russia rained down.

The fish were 'tropical' if I remember rightly. Projected from the soundboard towards the back of the arena.
There was an amazing strobe or green laser effect for Temple?
Can't quiet remember as its been a few years now!

It was the last gig with Andreas Bruhn too. And released on coloured vinyl
or was that the following years NEC concert during 'Overbombing'??

Although I've seen them since it's not been till this year at M'era Luna when they've really topped it.. well worth the wait though. Seventy minutes of total 'industrial groove machine' with all the band members on tight form and totally rockin'.

Of course, the NEC '92 gig was also notable for support by the awesome Murder Inc, with their dual drumkits.

Oh, and Andreas played at Crystal Palace in '93, supporting Depeche Mode.

Hello, by the way!

Hello to you too. And to GlosGoth. Welcome!

The main thing I remember about the NEC gig was the queue for all the belts/studs/etc. stupid security took off everyone. I ended up abandoning my studded belt so as not to miss my lift home

Hello again
getting mixed up with my NEC gigs!
I think it was Tims last gig at the NEC 27.6.92.

I remember seeing the queues for the studded items, and the whole arena was wall to wall black.

Did Andreas leave after the Overbombing tour? I think during 93 it was Adam and Chris.

Andreas played through 1993. Adam was there in 1993 (after Tim departed the previous year). Chris shows up after the hiatus in 1996.

It is easy to do that. :D Besides, Adam at the time was sporting long hair instead of his current trimmer cut. We need a genealogy chart.

There's one (up to 1993) in UTR here and here

A project for the wiki methinks.

Crumbs, that touched a nerve, eh Ruff?

I'll never get it myself. As long as the football input doesn't interfere with the music output, I can live with it.

I've often thought that the root cause of the Big Breakup in '85 was the fact that there were a Man Utd, Liverpool and Leeds fan in the band. Quite a volatile mix

 That's a thought!

The "Wake" gig was not that long after Heysel was it? About 3 weeks in fact. Liverpool fans weren't very popular around that time were they... :innocent:
