Weird Scenes Inside The Heartland Goldmine

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Hmm ...

I'm sure Quiffy will clarify what exactly happened then (if anything) but we're back. That's the most important thing. 8)

@ laz: streamline.net? eh? (bizarrely enough thats the hosts that black wire use )

i'll have a trawl through the webserver logs when i get chance. it seems to have come back with no ill effects though, so i've no idea what actually happened there. :?

I wouldn't worry about it - that's most likely some connectivity problem - the ISP's DNS playing silly buggers or something. Probably some sysadmin spending too long downloading obscure 80s mp3s rather than working, as they tend to do.

NTL's router's have been playing up, and many NTL users have been seeing holding pages stating that the web hosting account have been suspended by streamline.net for non-payment when actually the site is nothing to do with streamline.net (and has not been suspended by their hosting provider.) A hard refresh (Ctrl F5) clears this problem now that NTL have sorted it and show the actual website.

(typically NTL are still denying knowing anything about it)

Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

No excitement, James. Just a bunch of people with no lives 'banging on the door'.

Not sure if this is connected, however just ran a virus scan
and found "globe(1)" as an exploit, which the anti virus software removed...search reveals this -

Strange, as I keep all the AV up to date, firewalls, regular scans etc...

Just a thought

'linky' no workee for me Paul, but I agree.
I think us MacUsers are going to get a big slap in the face very soon. I stay at least two Sys Updates behind their 'flava' of the month. Maybe because I remember the Mac OS before System 7 (I have been Mac since 1985). If my machine works - I stick with it, till I have to change, which happened two years ago.
I will also be the first to say that OS X 1.0 was a terrible OS that looked nice but didn't work.

Sorry if I've gone off on one, but the Apple Computer Company have revolutionized (American spelling  ) not only my homelife but my working life. I turned down a job that paid better than mine in the mid 90s because they didn't use Macs and wouldn't swap over.

I like a 'softer ride'. :D
