Once again Black Sheep, Heartland and Friday Flock are joining forces for another long weekend of mischief in Leeds!
- On Friday 7th October, Leeds' favourite Goth night "Friday Flock" takes places at the "Bar Phono" - the notorious nightclub that gave the world the "Goth two-step", not to mention inspiring the odd Sisters track! More info
- On Saturday 8th October, "Heartland" - the largest online Sisters of Mercy forum - will be taking over The George for a night of traditional G*th (and related) tunes.
The Heartland Discussion Forum is the largest and most active The Sisters of Mercy community on the web. Boasting in excess of 900 members from all over the globe, Heartland is the place to go for anything Sisters-related. And now we are having a party.
You are cordially invited to join us in the forthcoming Black Oktober 2005 celebrations wherein a smattering of top quality DJs will bring you another night of utterly bastard groovy songs inspired by, and dedicated to, The Sisters of Mercy... and one or two other g*thic rock ensembles.
- GASP! at the beautiful people strutting their stuff on the dance floor.
- MARVEL! at the heavenly music bursting forth from the PA System as if its 1985 again.
- STARE IN WONDER! at the amount of PVC, eyeliner and hairspray collected together in one room.
DJs Quiff Boy (Heartland), Penger (Wishville) Paul (Black Sheep), Andy (Resurrected)
The Cellar Bar, The George, Great George Street, Leeds; 8pm - 1.30am, £3.00 on the door - And on Sunday 9th October, the Bassment will be full of "smoke, floods and stolen goods" - The Sisters Of Murphy + Rhombus + special guests James Ray presents 4080 Peru
The Sisters Of Murphy sound a lot like a certain other band with a very similar name... in fact they sound an awful lot like that band, so much so that they even play all the same songs and everything! Featuring the return of Sid on vocals (the definitive Mock Eldritch) The Sisters willing be bringing their brand of Smoke, Floods and Stolen Goods to the weekly Black Sheep clubnight for a third time. Support will come from special guests Rhombus and plus a third "special guest" band... see below for details.
Unfortunately, Corrosion have had to pull out of the gig but to say sorry they have kindly donated a box of CDs to give away, so there will be a free Corrosion album for the first 25 people through the door on Sunday!
However... we can now reveal that the "special guests" for Sunday will be none other than James Ray's 4080 Peru!
James came to our attention as part of The Sisterhood, and then went on to record "alternative" dancefloor classics such as Dust Boat, Texas, Destination Assassination, Rev Rev Lowrider, and many others under the guise of James Ray's Gangwar and James Ray & The Performance, both of whom were signed to The Sisters of Mercy's own Merciful Release label.
That was then, this is now.
James' latest incarnation 4080 Peru will be headlining the Sunday night gig at the Bassment, and have promised us a few surprises.
James Ray presents 4080 Peru / The Sisters Of Murphy - 7pm to 11pm @ The Bassment, Wade Lane, Leeds. £5. More info
