..was made by Gerard McMann for the "Lost Boys" film soundtrack. Not TSOM. Please alter file-sharing names accordingly, people on KaZaA.

Carry on.

ah, thanks Dark! So that's who performed it. I've been trying to track that song down.

@dark, were you the guy on IMDB who corrected the person who claimed Cry Little Sister was by The Sisters of Mercy?

Not knowing what IMDB is, I'll say no. Though I can't remember an awful lot, so anything's possible.

IMDB = International Movie Database

But seriously, where did this urban legend come from? I've seen Cry Little Sister quoted on Tab and Lyric sites as being a Sisters song too :?

Like Motz I'm very curious how the song and the sisters came together. The singer's voice doesn't even have a hint of Von in it...

(As I propably told before) I acquired this song when I mentioned I was a fan of the Sisters to someone I just got to know, and he told me he knew this one song by them... I was quite shocked because at the time I believed to have collected at least one version of each song and there a completely unknown one popped up  (But I sorted it out after a couple of minutes only)

And you don't know IMDB? That site is just heaven :notworthy:

@ Dark: Good job :notworthy:

I downloaded this one on KaZaa wondering how it could be connected to The Sisters.

As I understand it, Gerard McMann was credited on the soundtrack of The Lost Boys as "The Sisters Of Mercy", not knowing that there was already a band of that name.

Not knowing that

Someone deserved to be executed methinks

EDIT: Would be rather odd, since the soundtrack seems to be released by WEA... (clicky)

Pulling out my vinyl soundtrack to The Lost Boys, this is what I read:

Cry Little Sister (Theme From The Lost Boys)
Performed by Gerard McMann
Produced by Michael Maineri
Co-Produced by Gerard McMann and Bruce Martin

OK, here's the plan.

We agree on an obscure and really not very good track by someone we've never heard of, change its title to something or other by The Sisters, put it in our soulseek/limewire etc shared folders, and see how long it takes to get round the world Cry Little Sister style.

Good try. I was thinking of something with perhaps a more authentic sounding title but let's see how it goes

Just take a live copy of 'Moonchild' by the Fields and alter it to 'Moonchild - The Sisters Of Mercy'.

there's a term for this intentional trickery - it's Napster Bomb

coined circa 2000. pioneered by Mark Gunderson.
