List of covers

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

They performed Metropolis by Motörhead in a few Sister Ray medleys.

One which usually gets missed is Sweet Home Alabama. Anyone have a recording of it?

By the way, "He's got the whole world" is originally titled "We've got the whole world" performed by the 'Nottingham Forest Team with Paper Lace', or so my copy of the single says.

"He's got the whole world" is actually a traditional Christian song. "We've got the whole world" is likely another parody ;)

Edit: Korin beat me to it. But I posted correctly :innocent:

I know it's the other way around, but everybody should have a copy of This Corrosion by the mighty Lambchop in home. When I said that it's the best cover of a Sisters song, Obviousman corrected me and made it 'best cover overall'.

That's indeed what I consider it to be ;D

Of course, it is personal, but to make a song sound so differently and still make it feel right, make it fit, give it the right feeling, that's worth a couple of :notworthy: s to me

It was for Nottingham Forest, too

You don't expect me to know every whining gospel song in the world, now do you?

I can't even remember the dutch version of 'Ave Maria'. ;D

No: Weesgegroet I think, but then again I never even did the effort to memorise that or the other Lord-thingy-prayer... Since they're mostly prayed in group no one would notice anyway

Rendsburg Sister Ray medley also includes '(I'm not your) Stepping Stone'* & 'Gypsys Tramps & Thieves'.

EDIT: * or possibly "Stepping Stones" by G. Love & Special Sauce (if it'd been released at that point in time), since the only part I can make out is 'like a stepping stone' which isn't a part of the 'i'm not your stepping stone' lyrics.
EDIT2: Nope, 3 months too early. Something with the words 'stepping stone' anyway.
