"Justice" has some sh!tey tracks on it, admittedly... the "Now With Bass!" stickers pretty much summed it up ... BUT you can't argue with "One".

"One." I use to love that song. It made me grow my hair long, sport Demin, and listen to thrash metal... then one day I looked in the mirror, and that spotty face wasn't so pretty.boudicca wrote:"Justice" has some sh!tey tracks on it, admittedly... the "Now With Bass!" stickers pretty much summed it up ... Who would have thought Metallica would come to dominate a "Most overrated albums in the world" thread?

I must be on the wrong planet... I mean, they're not bad, but they do seem to get all the credit they're due.
(And I prefer Alice In Chains anyway... )

re.metallica -kill 'em all;ride the lightning;master of puppets: couldn't agree more -they're all classics. the reason i hate metallica is their much-publicised tight-arsed attitude to file-sharing/napster /etc. i know this has been discussed elsewhere and i appreciate the "taking money out of the artists mouths" argument, but metallica are multi-millionaires....and an artist isn't supposed to be motivated by money. i know people (techno producers mainly) who make their product freely available.
....james ray is not a millionaire i'm sure .shame.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Ah, the disparate membership of HL.
The world would be a very dull place without Metallica, even if we're not meant to be laughing at them half the time. Awesome band.
And Moby's Hotel is staggeringly good.
But, y'know, it depends on what 'overrated' means. If you think something is a crock of s**t, then it's a crock of s**t. Who gives a fig what the general population thinks.
But in keeping with the general mood, most 'nu-metal' is cack, as is the lightweight rubbish that fills the festival circuit year after bloody year. (coldplay, travis, all that).

Indeed. Fortunately, though, it doesn't really get any critical acclaim, unless your "critics" are dysfunctional 12-year olds with plug chains on their jeans.Planet Dave wrote:But in keeping with the general mood, most 'nu-metal' is cack
Black Album has quite a few weakish tracks, but Wherever I May Roam... come on now!

Anything by Oasis. That hands-behind-the-back, whining into the microphone whilst wearing a f**k-off parka is so mid-90s, Liam.

I couldn't ever get enough of them. Heard their version of Old Rag Blues the other day (bought the blue vinyl 7" for my dad for Fathers' Day, we only just remembered where it was).eastmidswhizzkid wrote:that'll be it then! any possible love for status quo was burnt out of me by overexposure as a kid!Dark wrote:I dunno why I like the Ramones.. maybe cause I like Status Quo?

as for overrated... I must say Ms. Marilyn Manson
Sure, there's a few songs worth listening to every now and then, but he's just as overrated as Nirvana in my opinion.
