Vision thing promo belt ?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I`m trying to sort through some boxes of old stuff at the moment that I`ve not looked at for years .
I`ve found a leather belt with a brass buckle done in the vision thing design . At the time of the album my woman worked for HMV & managed to .. eerm .. aquire it along with a few sale boards etc . The belt is the only thing left & I presume it`s official as it came from the record company . It was always too small for me (even back then  )
I just wondered if anyone knows anymore about it - were there many made & as its the wierdest promo thing I have did they ever put out any other strange stuff ?

I`ve only seen the band 3 times in the last few years & as you can tell I`ve somewhat lost touch with whats going on . You guys seem to have got me a bit more interested again

I've got one of those belts. Pete, who owned Vinyl Addiction in Leeds had one around the time of the albums release and said he could get me one. Was a very reasonable price too!

Was that "blind eye" Pete who used to be in the basement of Bad near the station ?
Geez - the Sisters must have made him a fortune ;D

He had absolutely everything you could ever want to do with SOM (& loads of stuff you probably wouldn`t want !!)

It was this Pete who bought most of my collection from me when I needed the money .

If it was the same Pete , have you any idea what happened to him ?

Yeh, the same one. He had a shop downstairs in Bad called "Black Planet Records". Then later got a shop of his own down an alley before getting a better positioned shop which became "Vinyl Addiction". After he closed the shop he moved to Wales where he continued with Vinyl Addiction as mail-order only. I used to see his advert in Record Collector regularly. I dunno if he's still doing that, I haven't looked in Record Collector for ages. The last time I saw him was at the Eldritch/Utah Saints gig.

He was friends with the Palazzograssi people and it was downstairs in bad where I got to hear him play rare tapes.

I've never heard him called "blind eye" Pete. What's the story behind that?

People called him blind eye Pete just because at the time he called his mail order thing " blind eye records" .

I remember once I was looking after his stall at a record fair in Leeds & he came back in & just as he got to the stall he dropped his wallet . The amount of £20 notes that fell on the floor was unreal . Must have been £100s at least & all he did was stand there pissing himself laughing !!!!
The last time I saw him was at the place down the alley , I always did wonder what happened to him so thanks for that
