When did this going into the studio thing go wrong?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

well..i must say that they sound more "rock 'n roll" that ever before, with chris and wayne jamming the guitars like that...
must even say that songs like summer, slept, suzanne and even crash & burn could reach a wider audience
agree :von:
when I heard first time "We Are the Same, Susanne" I wondered why this song isn't released as a single or something. I thought (and I still think) it's not music only for people who need special treatment, it's just a great tune (while even music made for people with special needs is quite popular these days ;D )

Er... No.

They're nice chaps, yes, they play nicely with the german language (and it is debatable who's German is better by the way), yes, they do nice things with their guitars and use a lot of fire, and their music and lyrics are incredibly romantic, yes, granted.

But.

I do not dislike Rammstein. Even got some of their albums and a dvd. Was impressed by their performance at Pukkelpop 1997....but....I get bored in a way. It's al the same to me after a while...and that's okay... 8)

I did not ever compare the Sisters with Rammstein.....and would not like to see AE working with fire at stage.

Oh, I've seen them live once in Zurich and was impressed, and I have the album "Mutter" at home. It's just that a) their music and lyrics don't do anything for me and b) no matter how much irony there is I don't like bands who use Leni Riefenstahl footage for their video clips, just as much as I don't like bands who play with swastikas, no matter how "left wing" they say they are. It's a certain lack of sensitivity that bothers me...

Yes, but after that he does want us to shut the f up. You know, he wants some obedience. And during I Was Wrong I've always been tempted to light my lighter and to wave it, but somehow I've always had the feeling he wouldn't appreciate that, in fact, that I would make a complete and utter idiot of myself. For some reason I prefer to avoid that...

I guess you should use a burning sigarette to wave instead of a lighter

You are certainly right about the obedience.

I'm sure I recall some statement or other mentioning that the Sisters debuted a markedly different sound, teutonic even, from the decidedly American-Blues influence.
It's clear to see the Sisters have inspired generation after generation of musical endeavours, so I'd agree that Rammstein are merely one in a long line of bands to spring from the same source.

I must disagree, however - Till's German is better than Andrew's, he just doesn't seem to actually write any decent lyrics with it. ;D

Too true.

But I can assure you that Rammstein are well aware of their roots and never claimed to have invented anything "new".

And they do love the Sisters thoroughly. At least some of them. ;D

@Ozpat: I do smoke during gigs, but it's just not the real thing...

@Obviousman: I doubt that the comment would be what one commonly describes as "nice"....

Rammstein are simply Laibach without the humour, intelligence and purpose.

although the evolutionary connection between the sisters and rammstein is only sideline like, i would appreciate the sisters doing rammstein's "america" as a cover, maybe as intro to vision thing. then add another track about the states and present it as american trilogy. we are all living in america.

btw both bands mentioned appreciate to play around with image. luckily west yorkshires' leader is far away from being a teutonic bastard.

OI! In my experience, Rammstein are the only band with humour in the metal genre.

But I acknowledge it probably doesn't come across always.

intelligence and purpose is a completely different matter though. :innocent:

Oh it does. They're funny as f**k, no two ways about it.

I guess their purpose, originally to relieve the boredom of life behind the iron curtain, has since been to make big pots of cash.

But hey, you'd know more than us Jess. Just ask them. 8) :notworthy:

I'd just say that Our Industrial Lovegod has a "luckier hand", better taste or simply a more concious approach regarding the choice of images to play with. :innocent:

well, this is a question about which personal needs have to be satisfied (in our case by a band), as they aren't satisfied already. i like maslows theory about motivation and needs concerning such things. aren't all of us looking for a great time with some nice people? ;-)

in fact rammstein might satisfy a whole lot of "lower" needs than the leader up north.

but devotion might take place at every level. we are all living in europia. luckily.
