Are there any web resources that list the details of the early gigs where the Sisters played as support?
I believe they supported Psychedelic Furs, Birthday Party & even the Clash?
Were these full tours or just occasional dates?

the official site lists quite a few
http://www.thesistersofmercy.com/gen/gigog/gigog.htm
"Point to the dot and see if we can remember who else was on the bill. The headline act will appear in capital letters."
the very early dates are a bit vague though
"This list is as complete as hazy recollection and half-baked research will allow. We're still correcting it (slowly)."

What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
After looking through the list there - Gaz has remembered the ? on the 29th Apr 1983 . Nottingham - The Boat Club. It was certainly one week after Peterborough.

If it's true that they performed with just Gary, Von and the Dok, but never mentioned them because they were so awful, then they supported the Violets (or a primitive version of) in Lincoln in late 1980.
You know, a lot of bands turn over the operation of their official website to a particularly fannish fan. Rather, they find a particularly good fan site and designate it their official site. Off hand, I know Peter Murphy did this.
I think Eldo should have done this long ago. He wouldn't have to do any of the work, he could provide bits of exclusive info, and I'm sure it'd be a lot more thorough.
Does anyone remember Clif Duhn from the old Dominion list? I recall he had reams of Sisters info, gigographies, bootleg lists--he was a real authority of sorts. I had copies of all that stuff on my old computer, along with tons of photos, but that was before I gave up Sisters fandom. Ten years of waiting's a mighty long time!
In fact, I really do wonder how much of the gigography Eldo culled from other Sisters fansites?

it's a giglist with setlists and more info...(I found this list on The Happening's pages and I use it frequently)
they also supported the Gun Club, Thompson Twins, ...
in dub we trust
Will have to pump Gaz further about that Union/Boat Club gig...as there were three clubs down the side of the City Ground.

Last time I made a list of gigs not on the official 'gigography' I came up with at least a dozen, some of them even exist as recordings. There's a thread about it on here somewhere if someone wants to dig it up. Why is that Boat Club gig still a '?' when there's a press cutting mentioning it?

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

I didn't even know what black clothes were until 1985, and then only just.

Yeah, me too Dave. The EBG-enough-to-have-seen-The-Sisters-in-the-80s lot ganging up on those of us who are only EBG-enough-to-have-seen-The-Sisters-in-the-90s.

Give us oldies something to crow about (well not me closest I got was tix to Albert Hall but was married to a tosser who couldn't be arsed)
BUT....when Rock City was 20 it gave it's members a rather spiffing glossy mag full of who was what and where etc. I'll dig it out and find out who supported them there.
Please forgive me for going to the first ever gig there

Rollins recently mentioned that, he said that while he doesn't like the Sisters much, he occasionly picks Sisters tunes for "desert island discs" type things as a mark of respect for Eldritch facing down a Flag audience. It doesn't sound like they went down very wellSilence is platinum wrote:The sisters played along with Black flag!!!

Well it was SUPPOSED to be Echo and the Bunnymen - but it was postponed as the lovely Rock City motifed carpet wasn't down....ended up being The Undertones and The Bunnymen played a few days later if my memory serves me correct...which it often doesn'teastmidswhizzkid wrote:who was that Ness?
