My WIfe Wants A Divorce....

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

My wife announced yesterday she wants a divorce.
Marvellous.
9 years, umpteen Sisters concerts together (and a few Bauhaus and Levellers) and she wants out... for no reason!

Let me know how I feel.

Coz at the mo I don't.

Apologies for being depressing.

34 and single again - frightening.

I'll be happier soon - won't I?

I' m very sorry, streamline.

Did it really came out of nothing? I can't believe, that there are no signs before. It must be a real shock then. :(

I didn't get the t-shirt but I do have the divorce.

Like they said it can't be out of nowhere, but even if it is/isn't the facts don't change so right now it's not too relevant at a guess. The world carries on and you need to make sure you do too.

Every break-up is unique, no two people deal with things in quite the same way, and very few couples have been to an identical number of Sisters gigs together. But, if you follow a similar pattern I went through starting early this year...

There's the period of sadness and regret, which is really not nice at all. Then after a few months you'll feel a bit better and enter, with occasional relapses, the "never again" phase. With a bit of luck, that will start to wear off and eventually you'll be (more or less) fine again. And ready to make the same mistakes, if you're not careful!

I'd been with my wife for 8 years, it has taken me most of this year to get to the stage of feeling more or less fine and allow myself to love somebody.

It's not the end of the world, although it may seem like it for a while. Good luck.

No you won't. Ups and downs but very slowly up.
But....you will feel better eventually.

First thing is to learn to realize and accept it.

Always feel free to PM....got some experiences my own.

Take care!

But as all the wise men (and women) said before me, you'll be fine eventually, just try to come out of the hard part in one piece

I was devorced by my first wife and 2 suicide attempts later, hey presto she's fine. But she'll not be making that mistake again even if she could find anyone as good and as loyal as me. :D

just because she wants a divorce doesn't mean you are in the wrong about anything as she will discover when she is lonely and regretful. Let her leave and let her take the cat.

I don't know what to say in response to everyone, I am overwhelmed with people's supportive (and funny) messages.

Last night I was temporarily wallowing in my personal vat of self-pity and was fuelling myself with copious pints of London Pride.

This vat has now been drained (or drunk!) and today is another day.

I must have been at my lowest to post my message last night as I do not normally share my feelings (what with me being a male and all) but in a nice way I am glad I did.

Thanks again to everyone, and apologies if people think I shouldn't have posted (I can't say I totally disagree with you!)

Normal sarcasm has been restored,

She'll get the cat over my dead body.......

Sharing feelings helps. The being male thing is just being hard on yourself with no reason...

Being brave is coming home at 2am half drunk, smelling of perfume, climbing into bed, slapping the wife on the arse and saying,"right fatty, you're next!!"
