heartland dvd-reflections and questions

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

doing exactly what it says on the tin....starting with a couple of questions.
( perhaps our errant Chairman could answer them if the faithful can't.)

on the "top of the pops" performances of "this corrosion","dominion","lucretia" and "TOL91" (and also the various other television outings thereof) who are the other musicians apart from von and patsie? are any of them relevant players in the recording of those tracks or merely session performers for the cameras?

why on earth is there some dipstick miming on the drums along to "i was wrong" and "more" on the peter's pop show?

my reflections are these:
sisters not goth? the walk away video really has a lot to answer for, doesn't it andrew? :innocent:

ofra haza:her death really was a sad loss.(whatever you may think of TOL featuring her .personally i like it- it's not as if the original stopped existing because of it and she had an amazing voice.)

patricia morrison: from the right angle, what a babe!

roxy subtitled information: anthony eldritch? i'll bet he loved that -nice dig at hussey tho' re. chart positioning.

And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

the extras on the various floodland totp stuff were eldritch's friends & colleagues - i seem to recall members of gangwar and/or performance were used, along with "staff" from the reptile house... purely for the purposes of filling in the spaces.

i'm pretty sure the lineup on TOL91 from totp is the full band? tj, andreas & tim?

peters pop show

dunno wtf that is all about - a real drummer FFS!

and i'd agree entirly on your walk away comment - see the wiki for my comments on the promo early vids:

re: no time to cry - "Pretty representative of where The Sisters were at visually, back in 1985, and a whole world away from the sillyness of the Walk Away video." ;D
