Favourite Sisters Songs/Album

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

That depends. I'd assume that there's some kind of drug reference in it... ;)

I really dig Suzanne. Also Nine While Nine. I'd pick something off Floodland, but it's kinda hard to break that album up. Can I choose Floodland as a single song?

no,you're certainly not.
the whole body and soul 12" is excellent (which at the time of buying made up for it being the first one not to have had the picture sleeve -since rectified).

i've avoided this thread 'cause i'ld end up typing everything they've ever done...so "all of them". :von:

I'd like to suggest "Poison Door" as best original Sisters song not written by Von. Not that there's much of a choice. :) Seriously, it's a bad-ass number and I can't see any reason why it wasn't on FaLaA.

Maybe there should be a Fave Song Of The Day forum, as it really does depend on how one's feeling.

This century it's still....Untitled / Sandstorm (Dominion b-side).

Though I was listening to the Disguised In Black boot yesterday (on a bit of an 85 boot-binge at the mo- bloody goths  ) and was reminded of just how stonking Nine While Nine is. So that's next on the list. :von:

:notworthy: i'm with you there Dave -whenever this question rears it's head in any way i feel like a right arse-lick saying "all of them" but i really don't dislike anything by the sisters/sisterhood (SSV doesn't count) and fave's are always changing.

and no i'm not ignorant of morricone. far from it. but its one of the few sisters tracks that makes me hit the skip button ;)

and why would they ever play it live? its just floorshow with different guitars and no vocals.

Guess it's time I actually replied to this thread... some topics never get old...

In no particular order...

Ribbons,
When You Don't See Me
Heartland
Gimme Shelter
Body And Soul
Flood 2
Driven Like The Snow
Fix
Floorshow
Black Planet
Under The Gun
No Time To Cry
Detonation Boulevard

and AMEN to Quiff on Phantom. The only Sisters track (apart from Watch and Kiss the Carpet Reprise) that I skip.

i like phantom (though i have more often than not skipped it).
it's got a very american indian feel to it, and should be played to all the dreadful hippies who frequent those african-drum-workshop-tents you get at glastonbury etc. as an example of why they shouldn't fucking bother.

it's got to be played very loud though -preferably through our big techno rig!

Phantom's main problems are the muddy mix and the cheap drums

That's my problem... I never got that whole Morricone thing from it, no matter how many times I hear it compared... :urff:

Quite surprised that When You Don't See Me has attracted quite a few votes of confidence. Well... guess I like it too, especially the remix.

But, I can't help thinking of one description I read somewhere... "like a gothic Reo Speedwagon"!

I think if you want to hear a Morricone'ish Sisters song you're far better of with Afterhours... Mucho better :von:

Though I do not dislike Phantom per se, but it's just there are so many better Sissies tracks. And like Boudicca, I didn't ever hear a bit of Morricone in it - though it is the first time I hear about this comparison
