That Guitarist

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Why does everyone have such a dislike for the man.

Everyone??? The whole world? Nah...

I do not like or dislike the man.

By the way, you seem to have a lot of conclusions/questions about different subjects in different threads. What's your own opnion about these matters?

And so do I? Nah....but if that's your idea so be it...

To me you hardly seem to draw any positive conclusions. Am I wrong?

On balance, you ask, "would it seem that there are more bad sisters tracks than good ones?"

Everyone dislikes the man Hussey?

How can you come to these conlusions after reading the threads?

What do I wanna know? Nothing in particular but within the different threads you might give your own opinion about it. For example what you think of Hussey (to stick to the topic).

By the way; I do respect your opinions and mean no harm with my comments on your posts.

Dislike no, but I found him a bit ridiculous at times. The last show I saw him (one month ago), he wore a "I'm a good f**ker" -Tee and looked like an old woman.

But hey, respect for at least trying. :notworthy:

EDIT: I took out some useless comments of mine about cauliflower. ;D

*ahem* The relative merits of brassicas doesn't really belong in Sisters Chat

Anyway. Ol' Wayne, gawd love 'im. I first heard of the Sisters because of t'Mish. A mate's older brother saying "You think the Mis$ion are good? Listen to the band that Wayne and Craig were in before."

I think the "not liking Wayne" thing can be a bit of a pose, personally; it's as if some people are thinking :von: fell out with Wayne, so no-one else is allowed to like him. ;)

Cauliflower and broccoli comments have been split out. Let's at least try to stay on topic in Sisters Chat, eh?

[quote="Ozpat For example what you think of Hussey (to stick to the topic).

I think Huseey was a great guitarist with Dead or Alive / Invisible Girls / Sisters and The m*****n. Times I have meat him I have found him to be very polite and quite a conversationalist. He has a very good sense of humour and seems to be an all round nice chap.

I saw The M!ssion only once in 1990 at a festival called Pinkpop....Not too bad that performance.

Never met Wayne and his music and lyrics mean hardly anything to me but I must admit that back in those days I did buy some of their recordings.

Do I surprise you? Well I guess sometimes people draw conclusions too soon...

 Soz Mr. Fiend.

As far as the Hussbag is concerned... I own a couple of Mish albums and enjoy listening to them from time to time.
Musically I think they're very good, Wayne's lyrics are utterly ridiculous at times though...
"Let me come inside your ivory tower..." oh please!
And I think he's freely admitted just nicking barely understood phrases wholesale from Alesteir Crowley because they sound good.

As for him as a person... he doesn't strike me as being half as intelligent or genuinely original as :von: (nor is he a sex god), but he's probably a lot easier to have a pint with. If that's how you judge a "nice person".

Personally I still prefer ol' grumpy-drawers. :von:

As has been said some think in order to prove themselves uberfans of Mr Taylor seem to think they must claim to despise Hussey, even though they have probably never listened to his music..
He was a pretty good guitarist, yes, his lyrics were a bit silly, but then again "It's a small world and it smells funny,I'd buy another if it wasn't for the money" is pretty feeble also.
As for him as a person,he's likable, with a good relationship with his fanbase.I'm afraid, its a case of the inferior musician having a a superior personality.Taylor seems(from what I read) to be an arrogant, and fairly unpleasant man.

As a lyric it's awfully feeble. As the parody that it was meant to be, it's nothing short of hilarious ;)

Seen the Mish, more times than I've seen the Sisters, on average, the Mish' have been far better than the Sisters, I think Wayne seems to be a down to earth bloke, I really like the Mish's stuff, well, up to "Butterfly on a Wheel" anyway, Like I like the Sisters stuff, up to "Vision Thing" at least.
People can make their minds up about Wayne, me, I think I'd like him.

I have had an allergic reaction to Mr Hussey ever since his appearance replaced the uprorious slam-dancing that was Temple Of Love with the mind-numbing boringness of Body And Soul. But more mature reflection has to admit that he might have had something to do with the raising of Body Electric to the glorious heights of 1984. I have recently ventured into the m*****n zone and can't make my mind up whether God's Own Medicine is a poor man's Love album or a light-weight New Gold Dream. He may be a better than average guitarist, but his vocals are very weak. And don't even go there with the lyrics.
And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

Yes,even I realised a lot of "Vision Thing" was a parody, but I suspect it succeeded a little too well!Anyway, for arguements sake, isn't it possible when Taylor writes bad lyrics,he just says he's being "oblique" or satiric?;)
"Suzanne"= fave Sisters song, but the lyrics don't exactly bear much scrutiny.
I suppose its an odd form of Sisters snobbery, where Hussey is concerned.I've always had a bit of a soft spot for him.And "Wasteland" is VERY dancable..

nice comparison ;D

children has some nice guitar songs on it, if you like led zepp. but then, if you wanna listen to led zepp go listen to led zepp. they've done enough blummin albums.

everything else upto and including grains of sand was arse. havent heard anything after that, apart from the opening bars to "first and last and evengeline", or whatever its called, when lars brought the album round. i didnt hear the rest of the track as i was too busy laughing and the blatent plagerism of mr marx's 2nd finest hour
Francis wrote:He may be a better than average guitarist, but his vocals are very weak. And don't even go there with the lyrics.
exactly my sentiments.

i dont hate him - i've never met him and he's done nothing persinally to me. in fact, as a few people have already said, i know people that have met him and they say he's a very nice, very personable chap. i just think he comes across on stage as a bit of a tit. or a "prancing ninny" as i once heard him described as. and the mish's music does very little for me. :|

and i coudnt give two hoots what mr eldritch thinks about him. von thinks a lot of things about a lot of people. many of them based on very silly and rather old grudges. and if i were slavishly mimiking his every whim (of which there are many) i wouldnt have time for my own thinking... :!:
