That Guitarist

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Just to add fuel to the fire, I found this while googling some of the above claims:

'"That Guitarist dies and goes to heaven. At the pearly gates, he meets up with Gabriel who gives him the grand tour of heaven. While touring he sees many familiar faces including Jimi Hendrix, Ian Curtis, Mary Shelly, and of course Nick Fiend kinda shows up once in a while... And then he sees Andrew Eldritch Sitting on a HUUUGE throne.. Wayne Says to Gabriel "I didn't know Andrew was dead!" Gabriel replies, "Oh, that's God (tm) He only thinks he's Andrew."'

i can see why you might think that but actually i had stopped taking him seriously at all by then.
after he made a dick of himself on james whale et al. he just came across as a bit of an idiot who couldn't handle his drink but appeared to have had his sense of embarrassment removed. if it was a joke (re. astbury) then ian certainly found it cringeworthy. and to commit it to vinyl by referencing it in blood brother was painful -i almost felt embarrassed for him.

in a nutshell: hussey with sisters = cool.
hussey post sisters = uncool.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

The arrogant/insecurity comment wasn't actually directed at you personally, but good answer nevertheless. As for him breaking up the definitive line-up,I agree, but Hussey didn't really have a huge alternative instead of leaving,in my opinion. If he wanted to see his own material performed and Eldritch refused to participate, what was he meant to do?And I can't imagine what Eldritch must have been like to work with, considering the state he must have been in much of the time.
And in the end Hussey was right,he was able to make a better career for himself outside The Sisters. Its likely The m*****n outsold The Sisters music for longevity and output reasons if no other.
Oh,I'd never heard of him saying he'd shagged Ian Astbury.I wouldnt be too surprised if it was actually true, but a decided case of too much information..

I perceived their relationship as far more conservative. At a The Cult/Sisterhood show I attended in the 80s, Wayne introduced Ian as his wife. ;D

Anyone got more info on the Hussey/Astbury thing, or is it just a load of undocumented throw away remarks at gigs?

(Plus, Murphy is not looking so hot these days - the Official Skinniest Man In Rock has even put on the beef a bit I reckon :( ).

Not knowing The Cult too well,I did a quick Google search. So,Hussey didn't supposedly shag the handsome blonde one,but the one who dressed like Pocahontas and looked like Steven Tyler?Eew..
Anyway,to try and get back on track..I dont have any great love for Hussey, but I have a problem with those who badmouth him while venerating Eldritch.Hussey may have been a drunken s**t back in the day,but thats not as bad as a junkie control freak with a tendency to screw people out of money.Seems lke selective viewing of events.I'm a massive FOTN fan,but will willingly admit McCoy to be a bit of a twit with a major belief in his own hype. I dunno.I'm too drunk to argue properly..

I had an interview with him a couple of years ago and he was very nice and friendly. He phoned on time (mind you, so did Carl McCoy). He invited us to the gig in Bristol and we had a short chat with him afterwards. Saw them quite recently, not the biggest fan of their music, which can be a bit bland sometimes...
