What does Von think of other acts?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I'm always curious to know what Von thinks of other acts, such as Neph, New Model Army etc etc. Any info, or would " dodgy darklings" just about cover everything apart from Motorhead?

Apparently he had a soft spot for Joy Division and an even softer one for Pere Ubu.

I do believe his comment is your surname Gollum

I remember reading an interview from around '83-'85 in which Andy mentioned he hated Bauhaus (cannot confirm where (or even if) I read that) ...

Can anyone else confirm this?

He thought the Nephilim were a fuckin' joke & wanted them to support him for his own amusement.

Funny hats, too much dry ice, stupid deep vocals .... of course they were a fuckin' joke. *insert punchline here*

I think I read something from the Floorshow-era Sissies in NME where it said something about them being compared to Bauhaus and Von not being particularly pleased with that.

Mind, he does like Joy Division, so, you never know.

Just remembered he admires/ed Will Sergeant's guitar playing.

He isn't keen on pub rock, so wouldn't expect him to like N.M.A.

N.MA. are as relevant as a snooker cue to a cricketer.

I remember hearing an interview years ago where he said he thought Pop Will Eat Itself were an interesting prospect.

I think he said something about Bauhaus being awful and aving no sense of humour.

Which is interesting since they seem to consider their whole "goth" imagery one big joke, which no-one seems to have got.

It's more likely that Hom looks like visionary genius Alan Moore - due to the fact that's who it is.
Would James like to comment on his similarity to Mr. Moore?
