He was studying French and German literature at Oxford University when he got waylaid by the first Père Ubu album. He was studying Chinese and politics at Leeds University when he got waylaid by the Sisters. His current interests include obsessive computing, cognitive science and FC St Pauli. He lives in a stretch limbo.
Chris Catalyst eats daleks. He lives in Leeds.
Ben Christo inhabits your recurring dreams. But he lives, mostly, inland.
Mike Varjak has slept with your best friend, and she enjoyed it very much. He lives in your spare room, but many floors higher.
Adam Pearson tries to avoid pain and gain pleasure. He enjoys discovering which of his actions lead to one or the other. During his experiments, he has worked extensively with Johnny Thunders, Andrew Eldritch, and small children. He lives in hope.
Nurse claims that his relationship with Doktor Avalanche does not involve the exchange of body fluids. He's lying.
Doktor Avalanche is God.

how d'you mean you've got a bad feeling about this?
I'm just going to miss Mr Wammy. Liked the way he plays guitar and just got used to the line-up as it was... On the other hand... if Ben Christo adds to the Sisters what Chris Catalyst does, then regarding music I won't have any worries... It's just that that picture leaves a shallow taste in my mouth. It's not about looks but about music after all....

Check out Ben Christo's MySpace site:

Some of his influences are, erm "interesting" (Nik Kershaw! ) but for the most part, cool!

This also means that if he have recorded an album with the new bandmembers and with the older ones; Adam, Mike and Starling - he would probably not release it. Because that means Von have to share his royalties between 5 others for their involvement in writing songs, recording songs etc. That's not very likely is it..
I really try to stay positive, but I can't see anything good coming out of this new recruitment - unless he kicks ass live.

There's a suspiciously large number of guitarists still listed on the site after the update, which is a bit confusing. But anyone could play the guitar parts for studio recordings of the new stuff, it's all pretty basic so there shouldn't be any difficulties with that aspect of a new album.TheBoyNextDoor wrote:This also means that if he have recorded an album with the new bandmembers and with the older ones; Adam, Mike and Starling - he would probably not release it. I hope the new fella's not going to come in and just copy Adam's arrangements on stage cos that would be a p*ss-poor idea...

Why is it that everyone who talks about "staying positive" is in fact negative?
Seriously, a tour with new, young guitarists makes me feel incredibly better about the band's future. Obviously Eldritch is still in it for the longhaul. Much better than the "nostalgia tour" vibe that would have come about with Mr Marx or, gods forbid, Hussey.

Let's definitely hope he has a personality of his own when it comes to play live, we surely don't want a copycat.
Maybe I'm reading too much into the lineup changes, but I'm thinking Von is making a real effort to revive The Sisters as an active band. Why else bring two young, modern guitarists onboard and mount such a major tour?
This isn't the nostalgia act you'd expect from a 25th anniversary tour, I'll bet. Von is trying to sell something shiny and new here.

I see it as very positive. New people in a band (or any organisation) bring in new ideas and new enthusiasm.
Indeed. I think this is the best indicator yet that Eldritch wants to keep The Sisters a going concern. I don't think Adam's absence diminishes our chances of seeing new material (though I still rate that chance only slightly higher than Guns 'n Roses releasing their new "album"... ) -on the contrary. I see a new, revitalized lineup as the best chance there is.H. Blackrose wrote:incredibly better about the band's future. Obviously Eldritch is still in it for the longhaul. Could "in the band somewhat" mean "already recorded playing on the album which we're going to release at some stage"? Or do we believe that Andrew would ditch whatever was recorded with Varjak, Sheehan and Pearson to start from scratch with Catalyst and Christo?TheBoyNextDoor wrote: Yeah, it seems like they're still in the band somewhat, very confusing indeed.
I don't think that's his style. I don't thnk that Von would ditch Adam's "Summer" or Varjak's "Suzanne", or any of the other fine songs they've been playing since '98. I believe that if a new album comes out, it will have several historical layers to it - an Pearson/Varjak/?Sheehan section covering the 98-03 era, and then a new layer of Catalyst/Christo songs and performances over the top. Hell, he could even do a Kate Bush and put them on two separate disks for an old fashioned "double album".
