NEW LINE UP!! Adam is Out!

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Ahem. Before we go Beyond The Pale (:innocent:) and talk about the Sisters as a gospel band in more detail..

Since Adam was the one preventing the new output, perhaps now he's out, we can have a proper new release. I wish we COULD have a studio version of Top Nite Out, but I'm prepared to sacrifice that for a full album of NEW tracks.

Thanks for putting me back down to earth on this early morning.

A full album of new tracks? I guess we will know more after the first gig.
Would be nice indeed Dark but I think it would be a shame when the 1993 - 2003 songs won't ever be released.
He could do a "greatest hits part 2" and share royalties and stuff with Adam and Mike and release the new ones together with the Christers.

That would work. "A Live Case of Overbombing" - all of the songs we've only had live studio recorded and then an entirely fresh album. Too demanding? ;)

Well, we've had choirs already, so why not

If he does not release the 'old' 'new' songs now I think he never will personally, but I guess new folks bring new inspiration to the band ;D

Well, you go home for the night and miss a 3-page thread about The Legendary Mr Whammy leaving the band.

If it's true that Adam has been the stumbling-block preventing new releases, this can only be a good thing.

And of course with new blood, new ideas, Eldritch and the two new lads could probably knock out an album in a week. ;)

C'mon. Hate to rain on the parade, but do you really think Adam was the one preventing a new release?? And this new guitarist looks like he shops at Hot Topic. Terrible. Will withhold final judgement, but only temporarily. Adam was a full-fledged member. These guys are just hired hands. Chris "RoboCop" Catalyst looks like a bouncer who goes home after his "job" to his mother's basement and studies Klingon. :urff:

Adam was just a hired hand. Nothing happens overnight. I'm quite sure that Chris and Christo will both appear to be fully paid-up Sisters once the tour is properly underway 8)

Has anybody a clue about the other unreleased songs:
Crash And Burn, Top Nite Out, Slept, Come Together?
crash & burn and Slept are registered at ascap for Taylor/Pearson. Gema states Pearson as composer for Top Nite Out.

btw:
Skrufff: The End of The World sounds very Sisters of Mercy like in style, where you aware of them when you were eight years old?

Kiki: “Sisters of Mercy came a bit later for me. I didn’t really own any records at the time, so I must have heard them on the radio because my school band had a similar sound. The funny thing is I’m working with the ex-guitarist from The Sisters of Mercy now, Adam Pearson. He heard The End of The World and said it sounded quite like The Sisters…though it’s me who does the singing.

I have.
Do Not Be Frightened
Well, I suppose everything's going to be fine with the new ones. After all, the vast majority of Sisters guitarists have been cool people on stage. Andrew knows how to choose the right people and I think we can trust him this time too.
and besides, they're all just guitarists, no matter how cool they are and how much we love them ;D
Remember the initial anxiety after the news about Chris Catalyst joining the band were first announced?

my 10 cents.

the band line up means one of two things:

1 :von: decided to move on: get rid of Adam, forget the songs
played live over last few years, (even though they may still be played
live) and concentrate on new, unreleased material (i.e. a shiny new album of new songs)...promoted by US tour and new guitarists

2 things are gradually getting even slower. Adam got bored and left,
these new guys are just hired hands, there's no new album, and the US
tour is a last ditch attempt to generate interest and/or make a 25th
anniversary more interesting than 2 nights at hamburg. again.

Sadly, I think that's more likely. Three times now I've geared myself up for a possible album (1993, 1998, 2001 - for the record!) and it's not happened. There's no real reason why he couldn't have released something if he wanted to.

At least new guitarists should make the gigs more interesting for a while.

let's expect the best: chris is doing the same as on the last tour, but is allowed to improvise a little more. ben replaces adam - his influences make me believe that he knows about adams and waynes sound - which is important. although this means he would play a kind of "first" guitar already on his first tour with the sisters

warning: do not expect any new release!

although andrew did surprise us quite heavily this year, so i am up for additional surprises

anyone knows how they got in touch with ben?
love is just a shot away

Let's hope this Ben guy can play some of the guitar parts that have been missing for so long -mainly ToL but there's plenty of scope for a new guitarist to bring something new to some of the other songs with lead parts - Dominion, Ribbons etc.
