ghostriders & sister rays

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

surfing the net showed, that the sisters have not been the first band of a certain league performing ghostrider and sister ray. i am interested in different versions, although most of them might be interesting only to listen to them one time, like joy division performing sister ray......

to kick it of, a very strange but funny version of ghostrider by soft cell

to go on, a very interesting version of sister ray, performed by the sisters in 1998 in bruxelles. this version is remastered from a cd i recently received, and it sounds much better than the original now. the little gaps/glitches should not give reason for concern, and were already on the cd i received. if you like:

The Soft Cell one was originally released on a fanclub flexi.

Incredibly hard to find, IIRC. I want it. 8)

Paul Haig (ex Josef K) did Ghostrider on a mid 80s music programme called Riverside featuring Alan Rankine (ex Associates), I have it on video but no way of copying it

According to the covers project, which is usually pretty thorough, the bands to have covered Ghost Rider are:

Ghost Rider covered by Rollins Band
The cover version of this song appears on the Rollins Band album Hot Animal Machine + Drive By Shooting.

Ghost Rider covered by R.E.M.
The cover version of this song appears on the R.E.M. album Rare Frequencies.

Ghost Rider covered by Paul Haig
The cover version of this song appears on the Paul Haig album The Warp of Pure Fun.

And for Sister Ray we have:

Sister Ray was covered by Joy Division

Sister Ray was covered by The Sisters of Mercy

Sister Ray was covered by New Order

Strange that they'd have Sisters for Sister Ray but not Ghost Rider.

Oh well, great site anyway: www.coversproject.com

Aye, I've heard the full version, and remembered to look out for it when I last watched it (my sister bought me it as a 13th birthday present.. or maybe 14th.. I'm getting old ) and I missed it.
Ah well, next time I watch it, maybe. It's probably just for a minute somewhere in the background.

Care to elaborate? Google doesn't want to.

And for anyone else counting, Tierkreis has made instrumental demos in its time of Ghost Rider, Louie Louie, Sister Ray and Cobalt Blue.
Only the last one is likely to be played live, or released (though due to copyright stuff which I don't wanna go through, probably only on bootlegs)
