I'm not geeky boy enough to understand the ins and outs of what's happening. But it appears that accessing, previewing or submitting pms from/to Izzy causes the error. Maybe I should just delete them all and we ban him?
Just a thought.

Yes this phpBB : Critical Error has happened to me twice today, once this morning and one 15 mins ago, so 14h45 mainland time, when just trying to log on. And indeed what Johnny said above the same message appearing in the Topic review section is happening now too.
It happened in the past too but I thought it was my computer until I found this thread. Good luck QB!

Still getting lots of critical errors, including while trying to get to this thread. It's making editing the weeding threads impossible
And it's still as slow as a very slow thing.
And I just got this trying to get into Trading:

Maybe deleting posts with a KISS smiley embedded is the way to a faster HL!Johnny M wrote:I'm not geeky boy enough to understand the ins and outs of what's happening. nowt i can do about it.
it all comes down to the fact that the mysql database is f**ked.
i think there's a process still running on it from last night that has crashed, and is hogging a lot of the db connections.
like i said, nowt i can do.
been on hold to 1&1 tech support for 10 minutes now.
in short, stop f**king whining and sit tight. i'm trying everything i can. trust me - you think i am enjoying it being like this?

god they're annoying.
i finally get through after waiting about 15 minutes on hold (on a premium rate 0870 number i might add!) and manage to speak to someone with little grasp of the english language, and less grasp of anything remotely technical. not ideal for a technical support department is it?
anyhoo, after me telling the "help"desk lady 4 times in increasingly simple terms that there was a crashed process running on the db and using up all its resources, she goes away and puts me on hold for a couple of minutes, only to come back and tell me that there appears to be a problem with the database server and they their tech team will be looking into it asap.
wtf?
they couldnt tell me when they'd be looking into it, or how long it might take, or even anything useful. i knew more than their supposed technical support helpline.
let me say this outright: 1&1 are f**king rubbish. they arent cheap, their technical team dont know there arses from their elbows, and their servers are utter s**t.
i shall be moving hosts sometime in the very near future.
fingers crossed the site gets back to normal sometime soon, but as you can see its way out of my hands. i know about as much as you regarding when it will be better
sorry

Was afraid to tell, Quiffkins, but it seems the probs are starting up again
It is not THAT slow as a couple of days ago, IMO, but I got the Critical errors too, especially while logging in, or refreshing the main page after I had half an hour of honest and useful work to do :p
