Sisters mentioned in interview with Peter Steele

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Sisters mentioned in recent interview with Peter Steele from Type O Negative.

http://www.knac.com/article.asp?ArticleID=4378

Taken from interview:

KNAC.COM: That begs the question then… the Sisters of Mercy are playing here Monday…

STEELE: OH, NO…

KNAC.COM: (laughs)

STEELE: REALLY? Haahhh…

KNAC.COM: Webster Hall. First time in seven years…

STEELE: You are the Devil in disguise…

KNAC.COM: I’m tellin’ ya. I love that s**t.

STEELE: Huh. I’m gonna try to go. I had met, uhh…

KNAC.COM: Andrew Eldritch?

STEELE: Yes, Andrew Eldritch. Met them. We had played a show with them in Germany, like ’97. And he was just like the nicest fuckin’ guy, man. He was really great. Made me feel right at home… had a drink with him… though he was busy with his, uh, situation… you know, there are always “situations on tour…

KNAC.COM: (laughs)

STEELE: (yelling) WHADDYA MEAN YOU COULDN’T GET THE COKE? GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK! You know… so Monday, hah? That sounds like that might be a done deal…

KNAC.COM: I’m going to get my ticket today…

STEELE: Webster Hall, huh? Who’s opening for them?

KNAC.COM: Uh, this band called “The Warlocks…

STEELE: The Warlocks?

KNAC.COM: I’m not familiar with them. They’re kinda new I think…

STEELE: I guess like ‘Born-Again Christians hah? Okay.

KNAC.COM: I think the Sisters take the stage around 9…

STEELE: Wow. That sounds really good. Monday night, huh? I might try to make it down there…

KNAC.COM: Yeah… something to think about.

STEELE: Absolutely.

T-O-N are a fave of mine, Hell! best concert I was at was them, Glasgow Garage c. 1997.

It snowed onstage and I wept during The Green Man.

Did you shed a tear? Hehe.
I didn't know they had played Green Man live.
Yeah, they're one of my favorite bands too.
I would love to hear them cover Lucretia.

Oh God no. Nothing against Type-O, they surely have their good sides. But a TSOM cover would show the yanks weaknesses just too clear.
Put their heads on f*cking pikes in front of the venue for all I care.

I love their cover of Cinammon Girl (right spelling!?) on the October Rust album. Best song has to be Black No.1 though. Saw them in Leeds in 97 (I think) & that song sounded superb.

Nice to hear old big Pete likes :von: .

and vice versa. :P

Eldritch did Type O the compliment of his attendance and saluted his bulky disciple backstage after their show on Reeperbahn. :von:

@Blast: I know, I escpecially like their Black Sabbath version from the 'Nativity in Black' tribute :D, but we're talking about a TSOM cover. And they are doomed to fail when done by followers.

I saw TON at the Metro two summers ago and they gave me one of those nights to remember. They really got me with a majestic rendition of "World Coming Down" :notworthy:

I think the Dan Swanö version comes pretty close to what a TON cover would sound like.

Haven't seen Type O since 1995 or -96, on the October Rust tour. Saw them in 1994 or -95 and it was an amazing performance, the October Rust gig however, was extremely uninspired and not worth the money...

Would be fun to see them again some day!
