i've got an excellent, almost perfect, recording of Leeds 2005, and as this supposedly is a bit rare, i'm offering it up for trade for any 2006 recordings, and any other good quality recordings that i don't have.
My list is at: http://www.geocities.com/cybele16/tsom/sisters.htm (the said Leeds recording isn't listed)
dei
PS: Naturally i'm willing to trade anything else for 2006 recordings, too.
trade...

Not this one, i'm afraid. i'm all for sharing, but some people don't want their recordings to be given for public distribution (a sad fact of life) and i'm obviously obliged to keep my word about such things. Also, it would be impossible for me to obtain any hard to get stuff if i didn't have any rarities to negotiate with. (Referring to PIB's post in 2006 Audio thread)

You have a point. If we turned this forum into a mere trading platform, it would take away some of its "soul". Now I see you have a nice collection. Would you be interested in trading for non Sisters stuff ?

once you trade that 2005 show out, it's OUT. we will ALL have it.
i used to trade years ago, and it sucked having to deal with "rare swaps only" and "don't trade this out." i'm so glad for bit torrent and rapidshare and FTP and Hotline and slsk and Acquisition... except you don't often make any friends like with real-person trading.

The trading section is for Trading, not hassleing people who choose to do that instead of weeding or sharing or whatever the hell it is YOU want, so that YOU can get a freebie FFS

Well said Paul.
Some people smuggle recording equipment into gigs, often at some personal risk (at the very least you would get thrown out...)
Just expecting their recordings to be made freely available, just on some random stranger's say so on the Internet, isn't really reasonable.

i see your points. as i said, however, once a show is traded, you have to trust that the person you traded with will uphold the same level of control over the show. the more it's swapped out, the less that control becomes.
i'd hazard to guesss just about every show in weeding was taped surreptitiously, save perhaps a soundboard here or there. even those might have been secret patches, or tapes that were leaked or stolen.
unless a band gives full permission & endorsement of taping & trading, then most live recordings fall under "risk-taking" endeavors. i've done it in the past. most times they just take your tape, leaving you with the recorder. other times they take your equipment until after the show. and there are worse-case scenarios.
nothing wrong with trading or asking for something good in return for a recording, however, especially if you are looking to grow your collection quicker.
consider also those who ask that their recordings not be traded or distributed as MP3 - that's another wrinkle to the music scene.

The "sharing is caring" argument was discussed on Dominion very recently, right after that surprising flow of downloadable MP3s. I didn't follow the whole debate, but they did decide to stop sharing for nothing.

I don't trade (because I can't be arsed)
I do weed (because I like the ethic)
I don't hold anything against traders who decide to keep things to themselves - fair enough.
I'm happy when people make things available for weeding.

As it's Friday afternoon, and I'm just marking time before going down the pub, any ideas on what a FALAA album cover signed by all 4 members of the band fetches these days? Picked it up in Ubik in Hyde Park, Leeds, about 10 years ago, it's dedicated to some bird named Rose. I think I paid about 30 squids. The sleeve is in good nick, the disks are a bit dodgy though.
