Missing info on the Sisters Gigography 1993

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. This seems to be the only place where dates
are sketchy.... additionally...
I am trying to work out where the
"come together in Mercyland" boot is from???
It is credited to "bank, austria zelt 12/2/93"

does anyone have accurate info on this and the
missing dates below ?

Personally i'm always saddened looking at the official gigography and seeing how many gigs there have been of which recordings have never surfaced :(

Edit: Pretty sure Linz didn't happen. Curve & The Young Gods certainly didn't support them - either would have been the best bill in the world for me :cry:

Hannover was moved from Eilenriedehalle to the smaller Music Hall due to low ticket sales. Linz was cancelled quite early, maybe even before tickets were on sales (?).

Did Leysin happen? Reading the small print there it appears Ofra Haza was also on the bill for Saturday... No live "Temple of Love" cooperation?

On the other side of the coin I'm staggered by just how many Sisters boots are widely available. How many other bands of a similar stature, have as many boots doing the rounds?

Spot on - the hit rate on the 83-84 gigs is really high considering they were a minor league indie act who'd never released an album.

The only shows that I'm surprised weren't recorded are those few early (before Hamburg) VT gigs...

Even if it's just gigs there were pretty hardcore bootleg crowds following the big acts like Springsteen or Prince, both of whom gigged a lot back in the 80s. I'd expect even bands like the Cure would compare favourably with the amount of Sissies boots.

Kind of depends when it was first claimed too - still looking for that rare '88 gig :innocent:

Might it have been "most bootlegged band on WEA"?

I think I've read something about that, and they were "more bootlegged than Prince and Madonna", which I suppose were on the same label(?) - WEA/Warner...

That quote is from the Dave Dickson interview with :von: which didn't appear in RAW, but did appear in Heartland 4. It came from the journo though, so there's a fair chance that it was spurious assumption.

Sounds a bit more familiar - they were all on Warners. I'd guess it must have been around '87 but that's a real guess... There's no chance there were more Sissies boots than Prince boots at any point during the 80s.

is on a radio interview(s) too i think.

something like you were a popular band to bootleg. von, the most popular it's said. was related to WEA stock and was political given that at the time, he wanted a live album released. see 'we did the b-sides anyway comment'

I cut out and kept an article from The Guaridan I think from about 10-12 years ago, which listed the most bootleged bands and gave the number of known boots for each one - it was the usual: Doors, Led Zep, Dylan, Rolling Stones, etc and made no mention of the Sisters, although at the time i had been keeping a list of known Sisters boots and it far outstripped all of those above, so i could quite beleive the claim back then. Dunno if its still true nowadays though. I must try and find that article!

There used to be a great site www.merciless.net that used to list the majority of the bootlegs available. Most have graphics of the covers as well.

It listed the commercially produced bootlegs (Neon Dream, Visions at the Forum etc.) & also the fan produced ones.

Some of these fan produced ones obviously had some considerable time & effort put in to their production..Good artwork etc.

The site seems to be offline now - any idea where it went?
