I certainly wouldn't call them a nostalgia act. It's just that doesn't give a damn what people think. He doesn't feel obliged to release new songs, nor even write them as it seems.mugabe wrote:However, The Sisters are a nostalgia act and, as such, get away with playing the same songs over and over, with people like me shelling out €40 for a ticket. I'm as sure as ever I'll have a good time.
Someone once said about Kate Bush that the only thing she had in common with the record industry was that she made records.
No one ever said you had to take the whole package.

by all means whinge, moan, plead, demand -whatever- about the lack of a new album; on this forum it happens frequently.
but seeing the sisters live is about more than hearing new songs -though that's a bonus- and if you don't want to go and see them then don't fucking go and see them. just shut the fuck up about it: because with that attitude you'd probably all complain that the new album (should it miraculously appear) was bollocks anyway.
i say again -for the nth time- make the most of them 'cause they ain't going to be around forever....they could get a couple of new guitarists everyday, but when von can't be arsed anymore then that's that.

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

We agree. Come the album, I can already imagine the bad reviews. This act is about more than records anyway.eastmidswhizzkid wrote:by all means whinge, moan, plead, demand -whatever- about the lack of a new album; on this forum it happens frequently.

The main concern doesn't seem to be new songs, per se, but different ones, and not the same ones year after year. However, I'll shut up about it, since your attitude 1. is prevailing, 2. applies to any posts expressing anything less than blind worship. Also, I don't like being shouted at when making perfectly on-topic posts.eastmidswhizzkid wrote:but seeing the sisters live is about more than hearing new songs -though that's a bonus- and if you don't want to go and see them then don't fucking go and see them. just shut the fuck up about it: because with that attitude you'd probably all complain that the new album (should it miraculously appear) was bollocks anyway.

Heh, again the "blind worship" argument against anyone who doesn't think there's something wrong with what the Sisters are doing. Fer fox sayke.

my attitude is prevailing? i would expect so, on what is a fan(atical)-based forum. and although constructive criticism is a fair enough passtime (not that it'll get you anywhere) i find this incessant moaning and griping about the sisters setlist to be pointless. don't go and see them if you're that appalled at the prospect of hearing the same songs again.
btw, my "blind worship" is actually two-thirds of a lifetime's love and appreciation of something that has pissed all over any attempts to usurp it from my affections.
and my voice never rose above a mutter..

I see what you mean mugabe.
It does bother me that there are no new songs.
It does bother me that there isn't a live bass player.
But having said that, I'd far rather have the Sisters in a form that perhaps doesn't live up to these hopes than have no Sisters at all.
As far as I'm concerned, a lot of the history of this band is missed opportunities, disappointments, and waiting (in vain). You see the stuff that has surfaced in spite of all this, and have to wonder what would have happened if the band hadn't imploded in '85, if the east-west relationship hadn't gone down the toilet, if Andrew had written lyrics for Gary's music that became 1995 and nowhere, etc.
But... put Andrew and the lads (any lads) up there on the stage, start up the Doctor, and none of this matters any more. It's a screaming, howling madness and I love it.

Somehow I think if the band had just been the music industry's bitch, maybe we'd have had many more records, but the quality simply wouldn't be the same. The band wouldn't be as relevant and we wouldn't be such devoted fans.

All due credit to Gary Marx, but i'm happy that the Sisters didn't go down that particular road anymore. FALAA is a great record, but Von teaming up with Marx would only give us more of similar songs (albeit produced very differently). Enough of that.
Whatever the nxt album may be like, at least i know it's gonna be as different from VT as Floodland was from FALAA and VT was from Floodland.

I can't wait the moment to be able to hear songs from a new TSOM record... 18 years without any new public release are a whole lifetime... at least a mini L.P. with 4-6 songs....

But that's so true, mugabe! Well maybe apart from the "Don't go and see them, then, and just shut the f**k up about it!" part, which is indeed rude, unnecessary and just out of place. But if we remove that part, we receive a very clever remark about the Sisters live.mugabe wrote:"Don't like [*] ? Don't go and see them, then, and just shut the f**k up about it! temple of 92 was only a remix....
you are right about Under The Gun a true moment of happiness in an ocean of emptyness all those years...
i forget also the tsom remix of "Fatherland" by Eldritch (1995)(Die Krupps)

You missed Vision Thing (1990), the last album. 16 years. But that'll be 18 years in 2 years..iesus wrote: 1988-2006 isn't it 18 years?

strange feeling but i think this is a sign.... Maybe there will be 18 years without a release... this means:
1990 + 18 + 1 = 2009 (If we count from VT)
or
1993 + 18 + 1 = 2012 (If we count from Alice(1993 Remix 7''))

Is it just me, or do all Sisters-related topics seem to end up talking about the lack of a new release, new/reworked songs, and then (quite possibly) a discussion of how and why they should put out the supposed new stuff?
In any case, I don't really see the point in spending too much time thinking about any of it too much. I'm not a "blind fan"; I just don't see the point in worrying about what should/shouldn't be played, because why should I put my hopes into something when the odds don't seem to be in my favor?
Maybe I disagree with some of the things The Sisters do or don't do, but they seem very aware of their own flaws and high-points, and what they're doing overall. And although I could voice my dissent time and time again, I find it much easier to laugh and forget about it. If I worried over the lack of "This Corrosion", for example, I'd be in a very sorry mood, based on one of the recent interviews.
Though, granted, if you don't voice your complaints nothing ever gets changed or done; however, in this case, I think it's much more fun to watch some of you people do the lengthy work, and see what comes of it (or not).

I don't think we all expect too much from the
Sisters, it's simply the case that we all *want* too
much; more than can be delivered.
We all want new songs - we all want them on cd
-and live dvd- and we all want them to be good.
Plus we all want the live shows to be good - and
we all want particular songs to be included in
the shows we go and see - I think that's just
an indicator of a passionate audience & fan base.
And we'll all bitch when we don't get what we want
-surely the problem starts when we all stop
bitching about it - when we become indifferent
and ambivalent to it all - thats when the band will
not being significant.

I'm very happy with their performances and the stuff that exists.
Nevertheless I do hope for new releases but expect hardly anything. So the disppointment never is that big. Hope is a possitive feeling and I will keep it...
