Some Bullet Points

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Just thinking about the shows I've been to this far and thought I would share some points some may fine interesting...

1) Andrew apparently has some broken ribs (a throwback to the Wake video:)
2) The merged FALAA riffs was Ben's idea.
3) Don't expect any brand spanking news songs any time soon, but This Corrosion has been getting a run through during soundchecks.
4) No opening band has been set for Europe yet.
5) At least one guitar player is hankering to play more material from FALAA in an updated style.
6) Chris is 26 years old.
7) Don't expect an album anytime soon
8) The crowd in Toronto was a lot less suspect than Montreal :)

How do you mean the FALAA riffs were merged?

The Pearson version intro is played and when the drums enter it switches to the classic version of the riff.

Thanks. I never did hear Adam play it. The classic version was just great.

Thanks Ben

NTTC sounds cracking if you replace the delicate parts with powerchords & chunky riffs.

(Edit: ^ that doesn't read quite how I intended - NTTC is great how it's recorded but it sounds v good if played in their post-93ish style)

Two Words:

Amphetamine Logic.

That song was ridiculously good in 1990 and sounds like crap on the record (what is that, a church organ?). I hope that gets a workout, its one of the better guitar songs they've ever had, tho the lyrics are a bit daft.

...and does anyone else think it would be funny if they did "Black Planet" to an American goth-bunny audience?

It'd be funnier if they did Good Things or Jolene.

Just to confuse the g0ffs, of course ;)

So you've not heard the 96 onwards version, 'speeded'-up to ridiculous levels? Get thee to the weeding section, matey. I'd recommend London Forum 98 (13th) or Toronto Docks 99 for clarity. 8) And speed.

Still don't like the sped up Logic, all the groovy little guitar parts for the chorus got dumped.
I don't think you can beat the Reading performance :notworthy:

I totally agree.

Logic must come back.

Best version I ever heard was the one on the COME TOGHETER IN MERCYLAND BOOT (1993) : raw, no compromising, no crappy productions like the record-version.

Never heard a version of Logic i didn't love at first sight. And daft lyrics? Among Andrew's finest.
i'm gonna be controversial now and say that Ribbons has daft lyrics. But that's just me being reactionary.

Well, most of them. That's part of the charm. His finest non-daft lyrics HAVE to be I Was Wrong - that one line is the single best rock and roll joke since the heyday of the Stones...

I have a boot called Germany 1990 (my only one), recorded at Gothenberg I think, has a decent Dominion, a solid Lucretia, a blitzkrieg if uneven Ribbons, and a positively vicious "Amphetamine Logic".

I bought FALAA -after- that, incidentally, and th first thing I listened to was A.L. Imagine my disappointment...

Yes, I'm semi-new to the Sisters, I heard Floodland in 1992 and Flood II was at the time the best song I had ever heard. Maybe still is. Some of the other songs are better live though.

Robochrist...http://www.jbkcomputing.com/robochrist/home.html

Enjoy, and also note the several thousand bands he's played with / been in before his current stint as session axeman for The Girls. 8)
