"Mummy, I'm a goth"

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Where was this seven years ago? It figures it would be a British, and not American research project - too busy trampling civil liberties in the wake of Columbine.

I know it's light-hearted and entertaining, but a report like this could have stopped a lot of upset back in 1999...

And will we ever escape the touch of bloody Coronation Street?

Mind you, on the plus side, Camden does compensate with a healthy dose of attractive foreign tourists...

Not that I've ever people watched up there.... :innocent:

I still remember the front page of the Guardian's G2 section with the KMFDM album Adios on the cover and the question asked whether this was to blame for Columbine..

gah,, why can't people seperate art and reality??

Goffs don't do drugs ? :innocent:

No wonder they ain't violent. Skinny as they are, they can't afford the luxury. ;D

I do know punks are violent and skinny. Only they don't (or shouldn't) care about their hairstyle too much. And a little blood always look cool on your torn shirt. :innocent: 8)

The goth sticks rigidly to the routine of two and a half steps to the front and back again, while gazing at the floor in an affected fashion and waving hands around mysteriously.

It's every parent's nightmare. Their apparently well-adjusted child suddenly comes home with hair the colour of a coalface, a face whiter than anything made by Dulux, and announces, "Mummy, I'm a goth." However, according to a new study, parents of goths will probably end up boasting about their son/daughter the doctor, lawyer or bank manager

I'm really starting to wonder what kind of goffs they dealt with in this study. Surely a methodological issue. :innocent:

No drugs, no violence, social... Oh my goth these goffs are boring !

I've read A LOT worse.

"Nor do drugs seem to be much of a problem. "Speed is a goth drug because the ideal is to be skinny," says Unsworth. "But for most of us it was Blue Nun wine because That Guitarist from the m*****n drank it."

Clearly - as those of us who were thin and gaunt in the 80s allow the lack of amphetamines and easy office work to take their toll, we are modelling ourselves more on the body-type of Uncle Fester, the man who made the cassock THE fashion statement of the age

Clearly Goffik - how we can tell:

1. Penchant for contrasting clothing (black & white)
2. Pendants/chains bearing religious symbology
3. Likes choirs, therefore probably has Floodland somewhere in his CD rack ("And now please stand for hymn number 257, 'Lucretia, My Reflection')
4. Uncle Fester(tm) Cassock
5. Terry Pratchett beard
