Wanna Know a Sisters secret?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Mr. C. Adams does not appaear on the b-side of No Time to Cry ? H e was replaced by a bass synthesiser .Why ? you ask.. Cos he'd already left the band by then. And How do I know this startling? Well, He told me..of course,in Germany on a Mishun tour, many years ago... so there.

But..shhhhhh I never told you that..carry on!

But if the single was released in Feb. 85, and he played all the gigs until June 85 at Royal Albert Hall, how can this be?

I'm just going by what he told me. NO Time to Cry and the b-sides where recorded during the time of FALAA. We were touring with the m*****n in Germany back in the late 80's and one night I found myself sharing a room with Craig. Til now, we'd not spoken too much about the past/ But this timeO asked him about the Sisters and the split and he told me alot of things about Eldritch..etc. and why it happened. Later ,he then told me he'd walked out of the band at one point and thus never appeared on the final single. Obviously he was there for the tour and then the Albert Hall show, but not since..and well..you know the rest. I'll be hearing from him soon, so I'll get him to fill in the blanks.

Hope that's a bit clearer.

If he walked out temprarily then I can quite believe that there is a synth bass on Blood Money and/or Bury Me Deep. Neither song really sounds much like FALAA era Sisters much and this could be a possible explanation.

Be good to clarify this though.

I can kind of understand him buggering off for a bit but it's weird they went for a synth rather than just have someone pick up a bass and bash it out.

Agreed. You would have thought even Eldo (sitting down on a chair, obviously) would have had a go.

It's his weird kind of twisted logic though - anyone could play it so lets spend hours programming this cumbersome machine instead...

Wasn't he being all gothy and fading away on his death bed around that time? :innocent:

Indeed. Which is why I ended up doing the vocals on the b-side as well. :innocent:

Ah, that explains a lot why they're actually done properly just once ;D

Thanks for the info Ramone. That would make sense.

I would like to think somebody could find a clone for Craig in recent years, and replace the balding fat middle-aged man that he's become. :innocent:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm an ass.

Get Andrew to grow his hair back and then hire David J Haskins on bass. Then, while sitting back enjoying the more complete Sisters sound, have a game of spot the difference ;)

Point is, some age better than others. Bob Dylan is a beautifully elegant old man. It doesn't happen to everyone though...

Peter Gabriel, for one, decided to go bald the day he realized he couldn't afford long hair anymore.

Why only Genesis ? Don't you like his solo stuff ? IMO it's all very good at least until the Us album. :innocent:

I think that "Bury me Deep" sounds like it has real bass on; but "Blood Money"? Bloody good song, but it does stand out as being a totally new Sisters sound... must give it a listen again today to be sure!

On a break from nappy duty...

Not the first time Craig left - in 1982 he briefly took up a position as a photograpers assistent only to be back after missing one gig. And the situation was so much us & them at that stage that I'm not surprised. I even worder if it is Wayne who plays guitar on that.

Btw. Ramone - is that you of Eskimo fame?
