Apparently it's going to be their "blues album" (????!!!!! ).... and will be more guitar oriented than Lateralus (which is odd, as that album isn't exactly know for it's lack of them!)

Undertow is probably Tool's only "good" album. The only song on it I rally love is, yup, "Sober".... and if you like Sober, then you'll love the next album, Aenima... blows Undertow out of the water... and then there's Lateralus, which pretty much blows ANYTHING out of the water.
Lateralus was the first I actually heard of Tool, and to me it was like a logical progression from FOTN's "The Nephilim" album. Ok, there's no growly vocals, but songs like "Lateralis" and "Reflection" are on a par with Last Exit... actually, it's probably my favourite album EVER. And has been for 5 years now.

Proof that they're also capable of writing actual great singles. Hands off one of the best songs of the 90s. Oh and their video clips are simply brilliant. BTW was there any for the Lateralus album ? (don't think so)
I have the Salival boxset, which is made of a live CD (not a must have but still nice) and a DVD that features videos for Sober, Prison sex, Stinkfist and Aenema.
First album is okay, second album is pretty good but a bit uneven. Lateralus is a masterpiece. The only thing I quite don't like is the very first Opiate EP. Too early 90s rap/metal (a bit à la Rage againts the machine) for my taste.

I've not bothered with Opiate either.
Salival IS an essential purchase, purely for three things (apart from the vidoes)... the stunning cover of The Zep's "No Quarter", the brilliant cover of "You Lied".... and the new version of "s**t", which will bring just about anybody to tears.
The Parabol/Paraboa vid is probably the best one they've done.... 9 minutes later, and you don't need drugs... it's a whole different reality. It stars Tricky, by the way...
