Sisters und philosophy

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

But subjectivity is objective. :innocent:

That I learned in some Woody Allen movie. ;D

One day I met that Thom Yorke dude in Oxford University park. He was taking his baby out. He seems to be a very nice guy but I don't do any Radiohead. They bore me to death. :urff:

So I didn't get the joke. It was too metaphysical for me. ;D

As for PhD being/not being a proof of intelligence, I'm not far removed from completing mine, so I guess I quite know what I'm talking about. It's a proof of ability in your field, no more.
It's even less that than - coming from someone who has one too. It's proof of ability to write as if you have expertise within some minor subsection of your field, and not to say anything stupid for an hour afterwards.

Von's favourite philosopher seems to be the Danish gloom-monger and wastrel Kierkegaard. I know nothing about him. My PhD is in another subfield of philosophy. Go figure.
