in a row is a major snooze-fest. IMHO, any other song would be better than any of these. Add "Something Fast" for extra punch. 20 songs picked at random from the backcatalogue make up a better setlist 98% of the time.

So, I was just curious what, exactly, in the setlist warrants the exclamation "great". Please elaborate.
OK, I understand where you're coming from now.

"Great" is relative. I've followed this band since 1984 and so the music that has provided the soundtrack to my life comes from that era. I used to say that the Sister's best album was everything they did before FALAA - eventually we (almost) got it with SGWBM.

So, if I were to choose the setlist, I'd be out with everything from VT apart from VT. I'd keep Crash and Burn and Susanne and probably keep Floodland era as it is. But I'd add Marian for sure, I really wanted FALAA, would love SKOS, Body Electric, Emma... and I'd get a real bassist.

But if I went to a gig expecting to hear that I'd be sorely disappointed. So given that I know what they tend play these days, what they sound like etc, it was a great setlist.

On another note, one song that I've never rated too highly is Anaconda and wouldn't have chosen it, but the version they are currently playing is absolutely stonking.

It was a GREAT gig in Madrid, my neck is still hurting me, good ambient in the first rows, the crowd was great in the famous songs and warm in the "new" songs.
If anyone wants to know i was the guy in the firsts rows high on shhhh jumping and singing like a mmmm utterly groovy bastard?
The best show i was in my life and i was near collapse in the last songs (was my fault i dont eat nothing since breakfast).
Only one more thing, I WANT A NEW ALBUM.

Madrid review:

Good gig.
Venue is big, floor is completely cement,
not very conducive of a gig (I long for
the horrible sticky carpets of the Brixton
academy!), and hence the size meant that
the show wasn´t as intimate as some others,
however the sound was very good,
great to have this corrosion at the end
(perfect)...biggest issue I would mention
is the show was VERY short. just about
as short as they could get away with for
the price, not much more than one hour.
I think several songs had verses dropped,
which reduced them by a minute or so.

I think this is perhaps the price the
band is paying for such a long tour...
i think they physically could not manage doing
21,22 song sets each night, that are 1.5 hours
long.

It was really a very good show. DTSOM has made a very good report of the show, and that´s true. Everybody enjoyed the show. Very good setlist, very good ambient. The band was enjoying the show as well. It was nice to meet any heartland members, like in previous shows.

for me this has been the best show so far, but there are more to come. give Von a bit relaxing time/ shows.
but the riviera itself is a very crab venue, much to expensive and looks like a Ibiza-House-Club (in my opinion).

I do. They were from North America... when recordings and setlists seem to be made available as well. Glad the boys are 'back home', though.

normally is strange to see a good review from a sisters gig, but I found one(unfortunatly in spanish)

http://www.nochederock.com/dailybugle/detalle.php?id=88

basicly said that it was a great night, that this gig improved a lot the one in Madrid 2000,it says that Eldritch was in a really good mode and he enjoyd whit the Madrid crowd, great crowd.....

I´ve checked the Spanish forums and you can see good reviews,5 YEARS AGO,IT WASN´T POSSIBLE TO FIND A GOOD ONE!!!(bad ones as well that come from old school fans that were waiting to see WAKE 2, and people that don´t know anything about the sisters, like everywhere) but a lot of people enjoyed there

the sisters fans are improving... at least in Madrid!!!
