Documentary profiling the life of the legendary country music star Johnny Cash, who died in 2003 shortly after completing the retrospective Unearthed, a 5 CD-set of the acoustic performances with which he resurrected his career in the last decade of his life. Featuring contributions from his daughter Rosanne and son John Carter Cash, manager Lou Robin and fellow musicians including Little Richard, Kris Kristofferson and Elvis Costello.

Dusty Springfield

With a Hollywood biopic and a musical currently in production, this is a timely portrait of 1960s icon and legendary "white lady of soul" Dusty Springfield. The lengthy performance clips are heavenly and will have you itching to slap on the mascara, backcomb your hair and gesture dramatically. There's also some rare American footage, but many of the interviews are too brief to be of value. Burt Bacharach, for instance, utters just two sentences about the unique quality of her voice, while Baby Washington, whose song Doodles was covered by Dusty, merely gets to say she did a good version. Others talk about Dusty's sexuality, drug use, depressions and self-mutilation, although these details won't be a revelation to diehard fans. However, as a celebration of her work, this is a treat - and after all, her music speaks for itself.

That's a very nice one :notworthy:

It was on BBC1 or 2 somewhat earlier too, IIRC, and I must say I enjoyed it back then.
