Anyone wanna hear Burn backwards?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I sent my friend ‘Burn’ and somehow he reversed the track.

So, if anyone of you want to here what Von is singing backwards, here’s the song in reverse. 8)

Nice one Nick :notworthy:
Who is this idiot clown he talks of :?:
I seem to remember mention of it back in the day.
Shouldn't this be in Lyrics or Sisters chat :?: Not that I care - it just might get lost in here.

Oops, now that you’ve pointed it out, I think I’ve made a mistake posting this in General Chat.

Hopefully one of the moderators will move it to Sisters Chat. :)

Well, you can clicky for the bootleg 7" mix of Burn, NRUB. Essentially the same thing, but with vinyl crackles. ;)

And cheers to Big Si for having that site.

I thought there has been some discussion 'bout NRUB? Nice bit of lyrics though, always liked the reversed part sound-wise too :D

I'm not sure where to move it to. Sisters Chat I guess.

Quickly, afore it moves..

I think it makes reference to the house of commons or something like that.. The original Heartland bio made reference to this and the kind of anti-falklands/diana wedding sentiments echoed in the EP as a whole..

Either that or my memory is mangled!

I seem to remember that somehow Valentine was about that as well. Please don't ask me to elaborate. :?

I did it in 1985 by rethreading a cassette backwards. (One of those short computer cassettes so there'd be less winding to do). :D

Listen again, it's "The catherine wheel a ring of fire."

You can hear some of those backwards lyrics (the right way round) in that early demo version of Burn on one of the bootleg albums. In fact they're about the only thing that links the two songs.

My car stereo did that to it without requiring any effort on my part, 87/88 at a guess. Buggered the tape though

That would be the car that I wrote off to the sound of Andrenochrome.

That would be the fire from the Firewall up above you.

Someone's blocking it somewhere.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

"Burn It Down" has the backwards lyrics in it (but frontwards) ... I think.
