i don't like

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

No I mean that initially such symbols had positive connotations, the cycle of rebirth etc.

The Nazis were very good at using aesthetics. That doesn't mean that the symbols they used were created by them or that they have the rights to them.

Likewise I don't think that the Far-Right should be allowed to see themselves as the inheritors of Northern European cultural traditions.

Agreed. The runic symbols get an unfair "racist" connotation because of this, too; the band KISS had a lot of trouble in Germany because of the SS in their logo looks a bit like the SS used by the Nazi SS.

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are Jewish.

Go figure.

I first came across the "gegen..." thing with St Pauli stickers..

Image

Though its gegen rechts..

Might have been a better thing to put on the t-shirt.. less people able to get it.. or maybe thats the point in the first place... :innocent:

The old ladies in the charity shop didn't seem very pleased to see me when I went in with my Gegen Nazis tee on, even though I had two bags full of books for them :(

last weekend I got some Good reactions on the T-shirt, though now I hear one of those guys was someone from a Belgian National faction, so I think he had missed the point :urff:

There's been a definite decrease in the tone since Madame Moderator re-joined the ranks.

Moving on from the Biggy and Sinny 'Shag-In' ... :P

I last wore mine walking through central London with a girl friend (Rosie B) who'd agreed to get trashed with me. At closing time cue drunken louts barring our way ... I will talk anyone to death ...but she just went mental. And by the time she'd finished with them, and slapped two of the four, it was like seeing chastised school boys outside the headmasters office.

We had a fab night together and rock 'n' rollled. Rosie B is black, and people still take offence at my tee? *shrug*

I just set Rosie B on them.
