The review is $hit. The only thing that over shadows the writers lack
of knowledge about Sisters is his p*ss poor style of writing.
What a twit! Below is a quote from the pile of waste that was
written.

"Eldritch's creepy old-man look of days gone by has been replaced by that of an aging man with a shaved dome and a hockey jersey. That's right: Eldritch has taken to wearing bloody hockey jerseys! What could be less Goth than that? Hockey jerseys are for dudes with mullets and classic rock-filled iPods."

pathetic really isn't it.

the Sisters get slatted for wearing black,
then they get championed for wearing black,
then they get slatted for "still wearing those black
clothes", now they get slatted for not being goth
enough. its all ridiculous bollocks. god bless
music journalism.

Nice they used an up-to-date photo as well....

I haven't read the piece. The posts say enough.
Thanks anyway...

The Jim Steinman-produced Floodland came out in 1990, and little has been heard from Sisters of Mercy since.
It's one thing to be an arsehole, but he could at least do his homework.

Pity him, the poor music journalist. It's not a real job, but somebody has to get paid nothing for it...

Pretty much sums it up - no need to read further...as Mr. Blast would say - "Next!"

Yes, after the intrepid author noted that Floodland (apparently all produced by Steinman) came out in 1990, he talks about a 'lame' gig....but this is all after a brief history of goth, and The Sisters, etc, etc. And his ears pricked up during....Temple of Love, only.

I almost feel bad for music journalists...almost. After all, they get to watch gigs for free....get paid squat for their skill-less hack jobs...and wear a ****-eating grin as they bash bands they don't like to begin with.

Anyone know what kind of promo material The Sisters send out to promoters and local media? Pictures? Bios? Set lists, notes, anything? A little effort could go a long way....Look at the Oregon show....2 or 3 articles, all of them positive...

Wonderful stuff

It reads like a bizarre sick and twisted experiment in doing everything that gets Von's back up all in the space of a single review.

Old photo - check.
No definite article - check.
Lack of interest in anything done in the past 15 years - oh, check.

I gave up after that.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I don't mind subjective reviews highlighting the failings or otherwise of a gig, but I'm guessing Mr Anal Wart stayed at home and made the review up whilst drinking paint stripper. Guessing, cos I haven't read it. Don't think there's much need is there?
