National Geographic magazine (depicting some South American

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I'm sure I remember an interview with Eldritch where he said that The Reptile House cover was somehow copied/influenced by the cover of Alice Cooper's "Billion Dollar Babies", but I saw the cover once and it didn't bear any resemblance. Any ideas?

Anaconda's cover comes from the Billion Dollar Babies album cover, which is a picture of a green snake? skin wallet.

The album cover has a reptile texture when you run your fingers over it.

:D The photo the Reptile House cover was taken from is 99% definately a picture from inside the August 1980 issue of National Geographic, from a feature on Mexican natives.

Anyone have a copy lying about?

Oh yeah! Wicked! If I'm lucky enough to meet Von this Saturday (I've got a funny feeling he's gonna stay on in the Blank Canvas after the show to sample the place), I'm gonna scare him with my in-depth knowledge of Sisters record sleeves.

Thanks all for finding that pic - always wanted to know where the inspiration came from - Thanks to the dreaded "Internet" nothing can remain a secret for very long any more ;-)

I've compared the National Geographic picture with my floodland sleeve and I can't see a match at all.

Sorry, slip of the tongue, I meant Reptile House (I had the sleeve in my hand as I typed the message, lol, why did I get the name wrong??). I see no resemblance at all.

Hmm, yeah, I've just spent about 15 minutes staring at the Reptile House sleeve, and the image isn't the same, but it does look like the same building, with the crumbled bit at the top.

Speaking of Sisters imaging, someone once told me that hidden in the Vision Thing artwork is an image of a city skyline, but I can't find it anywhere- can anyone help? where am I supposed to look?

Ooh! I never noticed that before! On the front you have the Egyptian symbol on what I thought was a black bacground. In my defence I had the record in a plastic sleeve which is a bit crinkled. It's not just a black background but you can see a city skyline. Especially noticeable at the bottom right.

It isn't that clear on the CD but on the vinyl cover it's pretty clear.
