Horrifying

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

On a slightly less in depth post from ones above, I like it because it sounds nothing like The Sisters.
Those ridiculous tribute albums that I'm sure we all own are (apart from a version of Floorshow that I think rocks) laughable.

At least its different. 8)

Oh yes, I've seen Nouvelle Vague on stage once, with that singer in her lookthrough dress 8) They were more rock'n 'roll than loads of other bands and they DID put up one hell of a gig. :notworthy:

I've found some opinions from other Unofficial Discussion Forums regarding cover versions of their fave tunes.

38DD-LAND 'Jolene' - "that Mr Eldrich ruins a very emotional song, I knew Jolene and she was a real bitch, she took my husband Billy-Bob-Jim-Bob from me...........and he was my uncle"

WrinklyRockerLAND 'Gimme Shelter' - "that young Mr Eldrich needs to enrich his version of Gimme Shelter with some high pitched whooping, whoo-woo, whoo-woo"

MalteaserLAND - 'Emma' - "that Mr Eldrich sounds so miserable, perhaps he should cover I'll Put You Together Again instead"

Well there you have it ;D

..Take it for what it is,someone having a laugh, have a chuckle, think "stupid c**t" and move on.I doubt whether Von is upset and certainly Jello Biafra would be pissing himself at an easy listening version of "Too drunk to f**k".
as i conceded at the end of my last post i am all for people doing "joke" versions of other people's "sacred cows" with the result (intentionally or otherwise) being the irritation of said other people. i still don't have to like the version. buck satan's country & western version of "too drunk to fuck", for example, is abyssmal and i love the dead kennedys.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

When Von gets his 3 record deal, it'd be nice if one of them was an lp of new covers ala Bowies Pin Up's. We all know he could make any 21st Century pop-crap sound great.

Anyone heard Richard Cheese??

Class. Pure Class. And that's just his name!

Nice little lounge-band styleee covers.

Good version of Holiday In Cambodia as well, Lee
(although you may well hate it as I re-read your recent posts!)

you must hear this one:

Sabbath In The Suburbs, The Lounge Tribute To Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath.

"Imagine Black Sabbath & Ozzy classic metal songs interpreted with seductive, syncopated bossa nova rhythms and bodacious surfin' sounds. Featuring astounding performances by the Lounge Brigade and produced by Grammy nominee Joe Ferry. Vitamin Records. 2002."

I was wondering when this particular cover would pop up. I like it, reminds me of Goldfrapp. Whom I listen too when i dont want to think about anything. Know what I mean init!

As for Lampchop - I prefer their version to the real one !
