As I am not a native speaker of English I keep wondering about the phrase:
I'm lost for stupid
Is this a real English phrase or did AE make that one up?
Meaning: 'I have no idea what's going on'?
Can someone clear this up for me, please?
We are the same, Susanne

however
'i'm lost for words' is correct
so, for example
get tongue-tied, shy, hands are shaking
Speechless, heart slowly breaking
Oh oh baby I'm lost for words

Goths have feelings too
i always heard i'm lost, stupid again. which i took as he's in love again and well, when one is in love... ;>

it reminds me very much on the German phrase: "Für dumm verkauft werden".
maybe one of many references to Germany in this song? I remember a discussion about "ether" on here; an expression which just makes sense in the German translation.

I like the theory that the song is about a German weather reporter. I don't know if it's accurate or not but I like itcanon docre wrote:it reminds me very much on the German phrase: "Für dumm verkauft werden".

I thought so, but wasn't sure.Dark wrote:It's not a real phrase at all, nor does it make grammatical sense.
Thank you all.
Kiss me and understand.
I understand the line as the narrator saying "I knew better, and still I got lost in love again". By the way, mentioned that WATSS was relating to Leonard Cohen`s Suzanne. (as I write this, listening to Cohen`s Suzanne I have the idea that this song describes a situation similar to Flood I?) Anyway: Interesting thoughts about the song are available here.
Bloody great pieces of work, these two songs..

I think this song is about THINKING you're in love, but in reality, you're just infatuated with someone.
